Hello,
Welcome Lynsayjane, love your Louboutins, even though I could never walk in them! Sorry for your spilt but well done for taking the reins and doing what you have to do, hope you will find lots of encouragement here.
Ginny you ought to return the cauliflowers, you paid for them!
I hated the course, it was boring, not very well delivered and in a small non air conditioned room, sweltering hot and overcrowded. I made an excuse about the heat making me feel sick and left half way. Nothing was being said that I hadn't heard before, intro to self employment, done that, twice. The full course might be more interesting. But I shall email the organisation to complain about the cramped venue.
Chilling out evening, DH will be doing more decorating and if I can be bothered I shall cook, otherwise it is salad.
Have a good evening. Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -
Decided to try Aldi today and while not everything we use was cheaper I did save a bit on the things I bought. Their cream cheese, barm cakes and buttery type stuff was considerably cheaper. I bought some rather nice veg and pulled pork which was a good price. I think I will make a note of what is cheaper where and keep it with me. It did mean I had to walk an extra half mile which was bonus to my fitness regime. Just trying a bowl of aldi vanilla yoghurt - big pot was less than pound, I think , and its not saccharin sweet which I like. Unfortunately the cauliflowers were all rotten and I really felt like cauliflower cheese
I'm a real Aldi fan. I find the majority of stuff cheaper than other supermarkets.
Pink Salmon in a tin for £1.09 was a first last week. Did us for an evening salad:)Loved our trip to the West Coast USA. Death Valley is the place to go!0 -
Thanks folks, hope you've all had a good day.
Called sky and saving of about £25 a month, trying not to mentally count how much I've wasted hoping! Cest la vie!
Also called the pensions folk, I've got two old pensions from previous employers as well as my current employer. When I saw what was there I wanted to cash it in, need a new boiler for the house! Sadly I can't do it for another 22 years. As I'm paying £50 a month to one as well as my contribution via work I think I'll try to consolidate them. That extra bit would make a big differnce each month.
Went into the garden and hasuled some weeds, put killer on the drive and generally tidied it a bit. I'm so not a green fingered person!

Yesterday turned out to be not too expensive. We had a lovely salmon in white wine sauce dinner and at my aunt's suggestion (at 81 she's naturally OS) we asked for tap water to drink. We skipped the coffee and pudding and after a bit of sight seeing we came back here for a cup of tea and homemade chocolate cake.
Soooo., £4 left in my happy cash stash for August. My housekeeping purse remained untouched so it's all good.

Lynsay have you checked if you can get a grant for a new boiler -Im not sure of the criteria but always worth a check.
Well done Bella, its good when you are with someone who understands about wasting money - Oh how I wish more people were like that.
Off to Mums, she will have been in Lidl at 9 am getting lunch stuff. She hates going out for meals for many reasons and is much happier at home. Will have a shop in her freezer whilst I am there as she is my personal shopper and picks up bargains on the market for me.Clearing the junk to travel light

Morning all,
Thanks for the suggestion of looking at grants, I've had odd searches for this kind of thing before but they always seem to be for people in different situations to me!
Had a very productive evening and got everything on my list done so I felt very positive about that. I also got a message from a girl I used to work with, she saw the ex and his new friend in town and gave them the evil eye. Apparently she was concentrating so much the the till lady in Boots shouted next a few times before she noticed. Sometimes it's the smallest acts that make you smile the most haha They must have some kind of obsession with that place, it's where I bumped into them too!
today's jobs are;
-post some of my AS kit onto Facebook and try to clear it out a bit
-organise kit in case of cover party need this weekend
-file the receipts salvaged from the cupboard of doom
-file the paperwork savlaged from above
The sun has abandoned us here but I hope it's still shining where you are

Took back a bottle of shampoo as only used it once, and my hair felt like straw!! Supposed to be for fine hair and give it an 'ice shine' ! not. Got back £3 69, and then walked out of the supermarket without buying any thing. So pleased with myself!
Picking the tomatoes and cucumbers, will do a rice salad with hard boiled eggs. The hens don't like this heat and lay has dropped off a bit.I'll be picking blackberries later and hope to make some blackberry and apple jam, using up the windfalls.
Taken photos of the plastic hen / rabbit house and put them on my fb page to sell, fingers crossed.I am slowly getting my os mojo back!
thanks

grandmasam I buy Sainsbugs baby shampoo and it leaves my hair lovely and soft. The worst thing about it is the very flimsy large bottle which is difficult to handle, so I decant it into an old handcream pump dispenser and it lasts ages that way. So a win win situation.

Hello,
Yesterday evening could not have been more different than described in my earlier post! DH and I went to a free 50s live music concert near his workplace, bought lots of bits and pieces of food for picnic, including posh fizzy water and luxury ice cream, stayed within the expected budget and even got ourselves a free coffee in waitrose! And danced with all the other oldies who had turned up en masse with their picnic rugs and foldable chairs. Had great fun!
Today's OS:
Popped into shop first thing this morning as I had to get a couple of small gifts for neighbours. Then went to bootcamp.
After my workout I went visiting a neighbour who was not very well, had a nice cup of tea, brought her a small plant as a gift, discovered she has a large fig tree in her garden, she gave me 3 large ripe figs. I did not even know that you can grow edible figs in the UK! It is a rare treat, I love fresh figs.
Got an email from an organic nursery to order veg plants, special offer free postage. Ordered kale, kohl rabi, a couple of herbs and some leeks, all to go in the allotment by the end of this month. Very reasonably priced and much cheaper than buying veg, even if more expensive than grown from seed.
Need to do washing up and have just texted a friend to ask for a swap, I bring her a bunch of freshly picked chard and she lets me use her washing machine. Mine still not plumbed in! Not heard from her but hope she says yes, otherwise it is laundrette.
Evening will be trips to the tip with DH (I cannot lift the heavy bags) to get rid of the rubble bagged up by the builder yesterday.
Dinner probably stir fry as need to use up some of the veg in the fridge.
About to delete organic veg box order as extravagant, I can do better buying YS stuff on my regular forages into the shops. And the allotment is starting producing a few veg in spite of desperately bad season this year, and slug invasions.
Have a good rest of the day. Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -
Caterina, which online store were your veggie plants from? I could do with some more to fill up the emptying beds on my plot2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇
