I thought it was a reasonable question for a consumer rights board, they didn't get the itinerary for what they paid.

I think some of you could do with a few days off, far too emotional for a consumer rights board.

How many of you constantly tell people to keep histrionics out of a complaint? As most of you should follow your own advice.

    .
But they were told that could happen in the T&C which they chose to accept :wall:

Chose (or more accurately 'clicked') to accept, but probably didn't read.

In that case it's probably just as well the T&C didn't advise them they'd be doing all the washing up ;)

Slightly off topic but a word of warning about diverting for emergencies - or not.

I was on a flight returning from a Red Sea cruise some years ago. A man in the seat in front of me had some sort of seizure and went a very strange colour and lost consciousness. At this point we weren't too far from the departure airport but the decision was made not to make a decision until the point of no return had been reached, i.e. the cruise company would have lost too much money to divert the aircraft to get medical help for the passenger. The flight would have been delayed, had to refuel and then other passengers would have lost their onward connections.

We carried on to Gatwick with a retired Vet administering oxygen to the guy (in the absence of a doctor who was willing to assist) and an ambulance was waiting to take the patient away as soon as we landed.

I was shocked that this sort of decision was solely based on finance and very saddened to find out that the passenger died the following day.
You have also got to consider that as the aircraft still has fairly full tanks it is way over the landing weight and would probably have to hang around burning up fuel for close on the time it took to get to their destination. There may not have been an area where dumping would be allowed (it is an air traffic control decision to allow dumping, not the pilot's)

It must have been annoying/disappointing. However, at least it wasn't somewhere far/foreign/exotic as you can pop to Guernsey on a day trip for a few quid from Dorset. e.g. £30 for a day return each, 2.5 hours' fast sailing each way. Or, to stay overnight/some nights, £62 return each.

The OP should ask the cruise operator. Hopefully they will at least get a discount off a future booking.

But it is very much in the nature of cruises and their demographics that makes this more prone.

The OP has a fair question. Yes, things happen, but at what point does it just get silly? What if they'd literally just left the first port and had to turn back then been stuck for the remainder of the cruise duration?
Yes, I'd be looking for a little bit of money back too.

They won't get any compensation or discount off a future booking.

They terms and conditions have clearly been stated already on this thread, and the weather is not under the control of the cruise company.

Missed ports/changes of itinerary happen quite often on cruises. It's sometimes disappointing, but experienced cruisers accept that this is part and parcel of the cruise experience.
