MSE perhaps should devise a system where once the op feels that a question that they have posed has been answered, then the Op has the ability to close the thread, instead of allowing it to become a mass bullying and belittling competition

It'd be even better if MSE created a "Can I get compo board"

They paid for an experience they didn't get in full.
The booking T&C very clearly explained that could happen and they chose to accept the T&C and book the cruise.

& clearly the OP didn't realise they had no recourse if they didn't get the full itinerary, they only asked because they didn't know.

Personally, if I was in the same situation as the OP, the first place I'd check would be the T&Cs of the company, rather than asking the opinion of a bunch of strangers on a public forum.

Re the treatment the OP's had (which I took no part in),; I think the mere mention of compensation gets some peoples backs up.

It will when it is the first thing that a poster asks for

They didn't ask for compensation , they asked if they would be entitled to any as their 5 stop itenary has been reduced by a fifth! Is it not legitimate to ask such a question on a Consumer website? To some this word "compo" is like a red rag to a bull, but that doesn't entitle them to go charging around the forum in a highly emotional manner!
The OP was given non judgemental sound advice early on in the thread and that really should have been the end of the matter!

Yes it would be brilliant. There's nothing wrong with compo, if companies don't give what people pay for then they should compensate.

I have just been given £30 from British Gas to compensate me for the grief I had with them.

MSE is great, but it does attract & harbour bullies......
Maybe they were the unpopular kids at school, the fat little boy or the ugly little girl, the child who was smelly or had nits all the time.......
They group in little gangs on MSE & vent..
They are to be pitied really.

So you say that MSE harbours bullies, then you go onto insult other users.

    Perhaps you are right...
One important thing to remember is that when you get to the end of this sentence, you'll realise it's just my sig.

Slightly off topic but a word of warning about diverting for emergencies - or not.

I was on a flight returning from a Red Sea cruise some years ago. A man in the seat in front of me had some sort of seizure and went a very strange colour and lost consciousness. At this point we weren't too far from the departure airport but the decision was made not to make a decision until the point of no return had been reached, i.e. the cruise company would have lost too much money to divert the aircraft to get medical help for the passenger. The flight would have been delayed, had to refuel and then other passengers would have lost their onward connections.

We carried on to Gatwick with a retired Vet administering oxygen to the guy (in the absence of a doctor who was willing to assist) and an ambulance was waiting to take the patient away as soon as we landed.

I was shocked that this sort of decision was solely based on finance and very saddened to find out that the passenger died the following day.

    That's a truly shocking account.

I'm a bit curious how you knew that a decision was made not to make a decision until the point of no return had been reached.
It doesn't sound like the sort of thing that cruise companies/airlines would put into the public domain.
