Argh hubby wants me to help him diet and lose weight but he won't follow slimming world as he says he will have to starve himself. He says it's stupid to have to weigh cereal and he won't eat some stuff that I eat like quiche salad and veg so I've no idea how he expects to lose weight

Do you prepare his meals? My husband has been mostly following Slimming World for the past three weeks, yet doesn't even know it. I have fed him exactly the same as me, apart from lunch he gets himself at work and there have been no complaints so far. :rotfl:

Ugh, men!! I'd just feed him what you are having and tell him to quit complaining!

This reminds me of a friend, she and her mum are doing SW and had lost several stones between them when her dad went to the Dr about a problem and he suggested that it would help if he got his weight down. He came back home stomping and complaining about how he just wanted an operation and how was he supposed to lose weight!

My hubby has a bit of a belly he doesn't like and has been eating what I eat, plus far less chocolate at work, and it's already going down noticably. Mind you, he still weighed less than 10 stone at his worst!

frogga - I'm new here so don't know you but couldn't not say sorry that things are a bit pants right now. Husbands can be rubbish sometimes. I can only imagine how much stuff you can collect from your kids - my eldest is only 2.5 and I already struggle to throw things away, even if all she draws is random colour squiggles!

Nice to see you all  You are right, it's Summer Holidays and I was thinking about hopping on here as I have more free time, so you second guessed me. Hello Maman TIE Beanie And Mildredd xxxxxxxxxx :A

I have been dreadful. I do actually feel VERY low at the moment but I don't want to turn this into a huge moan :o

I had some crappy news at work, was technically 'demoted' although didn't lose any money, and the powers that be said it wasn't a demotion, but it feels like it, and I've taken it as a really personal kick in the teeth.

Was my 24th WA yesterday and Mr Frog forgot, then he thought that was quite funny, then he fell asleep all afternoon so I walked the dog in the sunshine all by myself which made me feel totally crap and unloved. Then we had a row because he basically thinks I'm very needy and looking to be reassured all the time. Which is very true. So now I feel even more crap about myself.

I cleaned out he loft in the week, a job I've been wanting to do for years. It really upset me and knocked my mood. Anything does. I was looking at lots of old photos and letters. There are lots of memories up there. It was hard. I'm just a bit of an emotional wreck. Tadpole 2 and I burnt a load of stuff that I've been keeping for years. I honestly kept EVERYTHING that the tadpoles ever 'touched'. I kept EVERY drawing they ever did, everything they ever came home from school with. EVERY newsletter with their name on, every card they were given at Christmas and Birthdays. I kept the wrappers from their Easter Eggs and Advent Calendars. They are 17 and 18 so there were boxes and boxes of the stuff. I know it was total madness, but I couldn't bare to throw away their childhood. They've kept photos and school reports, and first shoes etc, but the rest has be burnt.

I think it all goes back years of unhappiness after things that happened as a tadpole myself, and I know I'm a nutcase. I wish I could change but I can't. I need therapy, and not of the food kind ;)

I lost one of my dogs on the 7th July so I'm still really cheesed off about that, and so I've been consoling myself with food. As you do. Which obviously didn't work because now I'm a crap employee, a needy wife, in morning for my little dog and I'm fat, well, fatter than fat, really fat. So all is really great as you can see :p

I was going to get back on the wagon today but I've already had an unpleasant conversation on the phone with Mr Frog who is at work all day, so I've already started eating. I shall try and eat all the naughties in the house today, get some good stuff in for tomorrow and then I'll start a 4 week blitz tomorrow. there are still 4 weeks before I have to go back to work so I could really feel better by September but it is down to me I know.

I shall weigh myself in the morning, but it won't be good.

HO hum, such is life. Will be nice to hop on here every day. I'll come back on later because once TIE and Maman have read this, they'll do some straight talking, which will really help. They'll say 'pull youself together you silly old frog' and Beanie will say 'keep plodding, is all' in her Scottish accent, and Mildredd will just be friendly and supportive with kind words so all will be good in the pond again. I shall look forward to my sensible friends with their 'pep' talk and give myself a slap and knock the self pity away.

    Croak to you all later....

Oh Frogga, no pep talk from me, I cried reading your post. I'm not in a good place emotionally either. Won't go into details as will start me off again, just to say am very unhappy in myself. I just really feel for you and if I could would just hug you and say nothing.
But am here for you with a good listening ear and a sharp slap when you don't listen back :rotfl:.
Maybe you need that therapy before you try to lose weight, get you head in the right place. Whatever you decide, we are all here for you because you are :A
Its not what you do but the way that you do it, thats what get results :T

I learned at a very early stage to stop asking or offering a choice of what to have for dinner - the answer was always 'don't mind' or 'surprise me' so I stopped asking and now every day is a surprise. :D

    Today he had:

B - Bacon, eggs, mushrooms, tinned tomatoes and toast (HexB)
D- Roast chicken, big pile mashed swede and carrots with boiled baby potatoes and gravy

    HexA- Milk
Syns: 2 for butter on toast + 1 for smidge in the mash plus 12 for Rhubarb Crumble. Ooops forgot Syns for Gravy.

My partner originally only said he would come to group to support me but he has actually really gotten into it once he realized all the things he can eat without weighing them or feeling like he is on a diet, he has now lost 1stone 12lb in 7 weeks. He doesnt like alot of fruit or veg but eats alot of eggs, meat, potato and apples and drinks alot of water. He has also started eating yoghurt more. He never goes hungry.

Why don't you suggest to your hubby that he comes along and just has the beginners chat with the consultant, then he might realize that its not all salad and starvation.

Also the men get a different version of the pack, my partners one has burgers and bbq pictures on the front instead of butterflies like mine has!

Hope the walk goes well this morning MrsR. Do you not want to lose any more so you don't have to pay? Or do you just want to maintain because you're happy with your current weight?

hi maman - I was told that if you did this to your chickpeas it was classed as abuse  and had to be synned. In all honesty I wouldn't worry too much. I think there are quite a few grey areas at times.

    b_e_g

For those of you like wiz ;) who can bring yourself to abuse a chick pea! the recipe is:
    • 1 drained (410g) can of chick peas patted dry
    • 1tsp of mild chilli powder
    • half tsp each of ground cumin and coriander
Toss the chickpeas in the spice mix and roast on a baking tray in a 200 degree oven for 20-25 mins.

I'd guess they 'd taste like spicy peanuts. I think the abuse is that you could probably eat more than you'd have otherwise.

There's also a recipe for dipping berries (blueberries, raspberries and strawberries) in low fat yogurt. Basically dip and freeze for 2 hours. They might feel like eating them covered in chocolate??

Argh hubby wants me to help him diet and lose weight but he won't follow slimming world as he says he will have to starve himself. He says it's stupid to have to weigh cereal and he won't eat some stuff that I eat like quiche salad and veg so I've no idea how he expects to lose weight

My DH just eats what he's given. Basically I mostly adapt the recipes we've always eaten to the SW way. Your DH could probably get away with a proper portion of cereal (if it was one off the HEB list) as men (well, fat ones anyway:D) are often allowed extra syns. His best bet would be to only have cereal rarely and mostly eats egg and beans and things like that for breakfast. I'm afraid if he won't eat veg then he's got no chance!

Good to see you posting frogga. Sorry to hear you're in a bad place. Teaching can be a shi**y enough job without the extra hassle you've had. Reading your post has inspired me to do some decluttering of my own. I've been really good this last couple of weeks sorting through drawers, sending stuff to the bin/CS and washing all the winter stuff while the weather's been good. What I've been avoiding is a cupboard in my bedroom where I stuffed family photos when my mum died (11 years ago this month:(). I need to get them in some sort of order and label them as (being the eldest in the family) I'm probably the only one who knows who half of them are!

What I'd suggest is that you look on the rest of the holidays to get yourself as fit and healthy as possible. So the dog walking is great but you need to get back on the healthy eating bandwagon too. Why do you have loads of naughties in the house????? The family can buy their own junk if they must but there's no need to have it there tempting you. I just buy my DH a few biscuits that I don't particularly like. I can't buy crisps or they'd keep calling to me.

Sit down and write a meal plan for the coming week. You've got plenty of time to cook while you're off. Maybe do a bit of batch cooking (curries? chillies?). Arm yourself with a shopping list and then do your best!! It goes without saying that we'll be here to support you.:A
