If the property is in London, many of the buyers will be non-British and expecting metric dimensions (on the Continent properties are routinely described in square metres, never as "1 bed, 2 bed", which is much more useful when you think of tiny 2 bed terraces and huge 1 bed apartments).

Anyone who's ever lived abroad will probably know their weight/height in metric. I can never remember how many ounces are in a pound, or pounds in a stone. I'm in my mid thirties and have never been taught anything but metric; you have to muddle along and guess with imperial.

I was born at just the time that the format was changing. I prefer to see length in feet and inches and weights in pounds and ounces. I also know that I weigh too much in stones and pounds, kilos leave me bemused.

I do understand celsius better than fahrenheit, though.

I'm pretty familiar with the metric system, having taught it for about 35 years, but I still prefer my houses in Imperial.

This is because my previous homes were measured in feet & inches and I relate back to them when comparing.

For example, I know that the dining room in my last house was 11' 3" wide. As it was a bit of a squeeze, any reception room narrower than that is 'too narrow' for our furniture....and so on.

This is all because the whole country, including the government, made its utmost not to adopt the metric system's units.

Havent' they now even officially given up on km and km/h on the road?

Still using the example of roads: When the change occurred they should have completely dropped miles and mph, on notices and car dashboards.
It would have been settled in less than a year.

When one goes abroad one gets used to it well enough rather quickly after all.

We adapt when we have to. As long as we're given the choice we stick with what we know.

Surely the job of an agent is to provide as much information as possible to ALL potential buyers

It's not. It's their job to provide the information they believe is relevant.

If you want additional information then you request it, or work it out yourself.

Am I the only one that finds it very annoying when EAs only show room measurements in metres and are too lazy to show feet and inches too?

I'd imagine so. Do you also get upset that they leave off cubits parsecs and light years?

Yes. They're trying to sell something. The customer is always right.

That's just silly. Customers are often very wrong indeed.

Also, the OP isn't a customer, so his point isn't even relevant.

I've seen the odd floorplan with feet and inches only and I couldn't understand the sizes at all as I grew up in Australia so have only used metric. The only thing I do know in imperial is my height but I also know what it is in centimeters as well. I get really confused when people talk about weight in stone and pounds as I just have no concept on what that would mean.

However what annoys me more is when they don't include any measurements on the floor plan.
