Don't leave a packet of butter to defrost on the kitchen worksurface, if you happen to own a labrador. Not unless you enjoy cleaning butter from all over the kitchen floor, where it has skidded as he's tried to eat it, and later cleaning up dog sick because he ate the foil wrapping as well.
Similarly, never let a labrador off the lead on a beach where there is a dead seagull. He will roll on the decomposing corpse, and no amount of dunking the dog in the sea will get rid of the smell. You will then have to travel home in the car with all the windows open, and keep them open for about six months despite scrubbing out the car multiple times.e cineribus resurgam("From the ashes I shall arise.")0 -

I'd second that - not a labrador, and a bottle of sunflower oil from the fridge rather than a packet of butter (she opened the fridge and got the bottle out, bit into the plastic until the entire contents leaked all over the floor, then lapped them up! Bleurggh) - but the result was pretty well identical.Life is mainly froth and bubble

Don't put the empty bag of self lighting charcoal in the chimenea thinking it's the best way to get rid of it rather than putting it in the bin.
Flames shooting out everywhere and nearly set shed alight.Yep...still at it, working out how to retire early.:D....... Going to have to rethink that scenario as have been screwed over by the company. A work in progress.0 -

A couple of days in the airing cupboard (for the wet mobile I mean!!) may help too. It's worked for us before now - though the rice trick is a good one too.Life is mainly froth and bubble

When making homemade yogurt that hasn't set after 24 hours, beware putting more hot water in the flask and just leaving it 'a few more hours' while you go to work. Because when you get home you might be informed that the lid blew off the flask, and the inner jar is all swollen and can't be opened. 3 days later it's still in the garden, and the flask stinks like sour milk....0

Never use "just a little tiny bit of petrol" to get a bonfire going in the rain, which is what my ex once did. There was an almighty bang and several panes of glass in the nearest windows cracked, which made it a very expensive bonfire.e cineribus resurgam("From the ashes I shall arise.")0
