its on the moneysaving and marriages board ;) LOTS of interesting threads in that section :rotfl:

Am feeling a bit unloved this evening after DS decided again to start the 'how do I make money without actually doing anything' conversation with me, and when I tried to explain that work requires effort and sometimes require doing things we don't really enjoy, and pointed out that there are lots of jobs I have to do that take alot of time including the 10+ hours a day I spend trying to win him and his sister's christmas, he informed me he that he thought I was wasting my time trying to win things, and couldn't quite grasp the concept of no comping, no christmas :( Way to make me feel appreciated :(

No pennies today as didn't spend any cash, hopefully some pennies tomorrow as i'm sure I need something from the shop, but im flummoxed if I can remember what it is

    Jakes-mum :(

I'm 30 and I only just really grasped the true value of money last year when I was totally penniless and depressed.

It sounds terrible but money only existed before to be spent. My parents have always been good with money and saved and encouraged me to be the same but I had to realise for myself that my lifestyle wasn't sensible and it needed to change. I'm not suggesting that this will be the case for your son, more that people can be silly with money and things will still turn out ok in the end :)

    Don't give up!

Sadly it's not the job of teenagers to make you feel appreciated :( they only think about what's in it for them at that age. Don't worry, it's just a phase, he'll get through it and go back to being the lovely Jake you've brought up so well, and he'll appreciate you and bring you thoughtful pressies :)
Just give it a few years

No potting for me this week, I've got 30p in my purse and it's staying there!

Ahh, ill keep plugging away at him, unfortunately he is a mini version of his dad, who, at mid life crisis age, still thinks whats on the cash machine screen is how much money we have to spend :rotfl: its OK, DD is a mini me so I can always pin my hopes of a financially savvy, high flying child on her :D :rotfl:

You are right, im in the middle of the 'selfish years' with him, though if he ever bought me a present off his own back I think i'd die of shock! Every year without fail he buys his dad a birthday present and fathers day present out of his pocket money, I get nowt. I only get a christmas present because I give him the money to buy it :o

I shall just do as my mum did . . . remember one day, he may be the parent of a teenager too :D

    I've been Money Tipped!
Afternoon all, hope you are all ok.

    Potted 1 x £2 and 5 x £1 coins = £7 potted.
That's it for the week and anything else I get will go towards next weeks target (another £25 and last one of the year). That'll take me into the final "100" and I'll just chip away at that and get what I need to bag up.

Have a great weekend and hope the weather picks up - getting colder here - but no heating on yet. lol

**** well done on the Scots for making the right decision - well most off them.

I seem to have spent the £15 on takeaway pizza for everyone, I don't know how that happened, oh well, I can put any change in the pot, it won't be much though, less than a quid.

Got £46 left in the bank and £82 to come on Tuesday (Child Benefit) I have 3/4 of a tank of diesel so should be fine to save another £100 in the ISA before payday, which is the 26th.

Mum is off to Mallorca on Tuesday for a week so won't have the usual spendy days with her.
    ISA £1675 :DMiniMoohound savings £3685.86 :T Plus £3800 CTF :)

  • only 10p in the pot today, well I have got another £9 in my purse but I do have a little bit of shopping to do tomorrow, so I will pot whatever is left from that. Got some vouchers for Higgidy pies, mmmmmmmmmmmm  so low spend anyway.

Will try to make the rest of the weekend no spend, and probably no spend most of next week as I have done my main shopping to tide me over till next Friday.

Have a good week all :)
Let's get ready to bumble! :rotfl:
