jakes-mum I too have stayed on the upper east side and agree you should be lower down as it does involve more travelling each day, the last time we went we stayed opposite Madison square gardens and this was pretty central.
We also spent a lot of time walking as this way you can really get to see things. April time should be nice too - take a massive case but don't take too many clothes - you will want to buy everything and with the exchange rate in our favour you can get some right bargains
Have fun - ooh I'm so jell already - you will have a fantastic time - there really is not other place like it
On a potting front only spent plastic money from the bank today - both for the car which is now fixed and at the vets
but I still have my money in the holding pot for Friday :T
Hope that all are well and still managing to sit on their hands until opening day :rotfl::rotfl:Meowhouse SPC #7 no 199 £560.58

Have been looking at the Intercontinental on Times Square as BA have a pretty good fly + stay deal on, and now looking at going in march :rotfl: im so indecisive! Got all excited about finding The Ritz Carlton at a good price only to find it was the one at the bottom not the one by Central Park
32b3, now how did you know I wanted to go to Macy's?:rotfl: and don't worry ladies, i'm taking a carry on suitcase inside a large suitcase and not taking any clothes except some undies :rotfl:
Reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeally desperate to open my pot now as I think I know where a majority of it will now be going. . oh and DD has asked me to bring her back a toy from NY, npe not a mini statue of liberty or a I heart NY t'shirt, but an toy aeroplane the same as the one we fly on :rotfl:

Everyone goes to Macy's Jakes-Mum... And bloomingdales and fAO Swartz and the toys r us in Times Square which has a Ferris wheel inside. There are loads of nice cup cake shops too.
Make sure you go on the high line too. It's just a walk through the city, but it's on a disused freight track so its above the city. It's lovely. No cars, or shops (other than a coffee and cake stall) and a nice break away from the crazy city.
I'm very excited for you. Another nice hotel in Times Square is the W hotel. I have never stayed there, but it looks really nice and trendy. It's got a revolving W outside which I use as a bit of a landmarkSPC9 #125 - £816.85

Umm on potting news . . . . I have many pots, they are very pretty and are asking me to open them everytime I go near them, I think they might be objecting to the weights they are having to hold . . .SPC No 002 SPC(3) £285/£250 (4) £519.84/£500 (5) £768.32/£500 (6) £911.30/£600 (7) £913.23/£600 (8) £1184.82/£750 (9) £2864.04/£750 (10) £3846.25/£1000 (11) £1779.72/£1000 (12) £1596.55/£1000 (13) £1534.70/£1000 (14) £775.60/£1000 (15) £700.20/£1000 (16) £2081.34/£1000 (17) £1691.15/£1000 (18) £225/£10000 -

You are very funny, scrambling to [STRIKE]make up[/STRIKE]report some potting news so Sue doesn't shout at you,Jakes mum.
Congratulations booking your trip.Sounds very exciting.
I am not sure about visas, but if it was me,I would simply contact a travel agent and ask.I know "in the olden days" you had to go to an embassy in,say,London,to get most visas. But these days,I am sure the travel agents arrange it for you

I would imagine you would get a visa via the US embassy in London? Could be wrong, but I would assume it's them who issue the Visa, so they probably have all the forms you need to fill in available.
On the potting front, £1.15 yesterday.0 -

You do the visa on line. It's an esta. It takes about 5 minutes, costs $14ish, and lasts for 2 years.

Make sure you go through that site, because there are loads which charge you extra to do it for you and you don't need that. You can do it yourself xxSPC9 #125 - £816.85
