I forgot all about it - I did do a huge post but it was so headmistressy and telly-offy that I didn't submit it.
The Elemental Beauty contains allantoin (also known as 'udder cream'), that's why they claim it's healing. I rely on the zinc in MMU, it really does seem to work - when I'm not brought up in the itchies... I've just put the Lily Lolo on, we'll see what happens this time.

Poor you:mad:
Just saw your post telling me to read this thread.
Im 40:shhh: :shhh: :shhh: :shhh: :shhh: & my skin is not as smooth as it used to be. My pores are a little more open & visable then when I was young. My daughter has that mineral foundation & she put it on me. I didn't like it. When I put on foundation it goes into the tiny pores & fills them in, so my skin is smooth then with powder over it looks damn good for my age (I get comps about my skin they've never seen me without makeupI put that down to Liz Earle)
But the mineral makeup didn't fill in the pores, so you could see then & I didn't like that. They are quite small, thats why a dollop of foundation easily covers them, but I felt the mineral make up almost drew attention to them.
Apart from Liz earle, I don't know much about stuff for sensitive skin, as thank god I can use almost anything.
But I do think if you're over 30 then foundation & loose powder is the way to go I think.
If you like a really light coverage then NO.7 intelligent colour is nice.
If you like more coverage & long lasting then I'm using Estee Lauder double wear. They are also bringing out a light version of the double wear at the end of this month. No.7 loose powder is great, everyone I know who uses it rates it.
Start a thread Jeannie asking about nice foundations & powders for sensitive skins.
Go to the Estee Lauder counter & ask her for a sample od double wear, explain you are sensitive to many things.
BUY SOME LIZ EARLE;)0 -
MrsE - Bare Escentuals is terrible for showing up pores (I think it's the bismuth in it), it can be 'cured' by putting Mineral Veil underneath or on top. The other brands I've tried do not leave you with that problem. However, it's beside the point if you are happy with your foundation and powder :j
Jeannie - I thought of you when I was browsing bathroom stuff at House of Bath the other day, then I forgot, then I remembered it in the middle of the night  Here is a dispenser for putting lotion on your back - expensive, like a lot of HoB's stuff, but anyway, here's the link:

That's clever! And not that expensive if it puts me out of misery - better than grabbing a fork out the drawer and clawing it - really not a good thing to do but if you've ever had ezcema, you know that itch...........Genie

I bought 6 samples from LilyLolo about a month ago. I put the foundation on (no concealer, just needed to blend my skin tone out), went to work with my skin feeling a little bit 'tight' but okay, and within a couple of hours was actually in pain! I left early, went home and washed my face. The Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish, even without using the muslin, stung my face really badly and my cheeks were bright red for a couple of days.
Someone else let me borrow her Bare Esscentuals and a different (freshly cleaned) brush, and that was better but still a quite tight and uncomfortable, even when using it over Liz' heavy-duty moisturiser and Superbalm oil on my cheeks. I never thought that my skin was particularly dry (it's combination, really) or sensitive.
I'm still determined to find the right mineral makeup, because I can't believe my skin is so freakish that none will work. I'm just really nervous about trying new brands now!
UPDATE: If anyone is reading this now, I actually went back to Lily Lolo; I'm just a bit more careful. I use Liz Earle Superskin moisturizer, allow it to absorb into my skin for at least 10-15 minutes, then apply Smashbox Photo Finish Primer underneath the mineral makeup. That seems to create enough of a barrier that the makeup doesn't irritate and dry out my skin. Before hitting on this combination, I had tested 16 different mineral makeup brands and I had nearly the same reaction (tight, uncomfortable skin) with all but 1 or 2, and those that didn't give me a reaction either slid straight off my face or looked like regular powder, not foundation, and really aged me. I think the Lily Lolo problem was exacerbated by the cold, dry weather and the wind.

My sister is doing well with my cast offs.......... I love her, but am jealous!
I've not as yet received the elemental beauty.
I've not taken any piriton since last weekend as they make me dopey - and can't be like that for work, although not sure they would notice.
I've also been really bad and put some of my betnovate cream on my face last two nights. Its really helped it. Not sure what long term damage could be....:o
No intention of losing any sleep regarding above action..
Oh, I couldn't be left out:rolleyes:
I've ordered some Elemental Beauty:D
I've ordered lots of the 55p sample pots, the under eye brightner, the normal healing light concealer, a bronzer type powder.
I got samples of the mineral foundations & the loose powder.0 -
I think I'm going to try the Elemental Beauty too...
Their 'Healing Mineral Foundation' doesn't contain any kaolin, and I'm wondering whether that's my problem. It is possible to be allergic to kaolin (though it doesn't seem to be very common) and it is a drying ingredient, so maybe it's just a bit too much for my skin in winter.
I'll let you know how I get on!
As a side note, I'm finding some of the things written about Bismuth Oxychloride online pretty funny, not because they're wrong about the bismuth but just because of... ignorance. One person says "When you use a product containing bismuth oxychloride you are pushing into your pores small metallic particles that will clog your pores." As opposed to pushing Iron Oxide (rust) into your pores? Or titanium, zinc, or chromium (all metals)? I'd love to know what this person thinks a mineral is!
And it drives me nuts when people refer to mineral makeup as being 'organic'. It's minerals. Minerals are not and never were alive. They weren't grown in free range conditions with no pesticides or antibiotics. More importantly, they're not carbon-based. There is no possible way in which they can be organic!!!
Okay, rant over. Sorry!!0 -

I have an oily T zone and now as Im getting on in years the rest of my face is becoming rather dry but Im getting a smooth coverage with these minerals and really no irritation so far (using for around 2 weeks now although not every day and not all day cos I dont always want to wear make up)
Do go for the sample sizes - they are HUGE and the foundations come in wee vials which are so easy to use. Im using a tin lid to tip into and swirl and Im not even halfway through the sample I have decided to go with.
I emailed them last night to ask some questions about what colour blush and concealer to go with and I got an answer right back this morning with the offer of sample sizes to be popped in with my full size order of foundation0 -
