My application went in 27th, fees paid 1st, "application received" 3rd and not at the end yet. So based on that I think you've got a little while yet, though not too long I wouldn't have thought.

I called today and was told they are working on 8th at the moment. They were able to tell me details about my valuation (not good news), but obviously needs to be with an underwriter before an offer is made.

    Congrats Barricade!

    A frustrating update from me.

Last Friday the PO decided to ask us for a copy of my husband's current contract and HR details for his new job (starting September) despite our broker asking them upfront if they would want any further documentation and the PO being adamant that nothing would be needed.

We're in the US for two weeks with work and had made sure we had essential documents with us just in case but guess what? Husband never had a physical copy of his current contract (all electronic) and they're insisting on a signed paper copy, they wouldn't even accept the electronic version that his HR department sent direct to them. Then we found out that his departmental contact in HR is on holiday until next week so can't sign the paper copy, fortunately they've found someone else to sign it after he asked very nicely and apparently it has been posted to our broker today. It then still has to be sent to the PO though so they won't have it until next week.

All this because he is changing jobs and they "don't know who he'll be employed by when completion happens". I understand them needing to check his new employment status and salary but I'm completely bemused by why they need his old contract when they've had pay slips and bank statements showing his salary going in.

I dread to think how much this is going to delay us, we were really hoping to be in by September when he starts the new job (different city in a different part of the country!) otherwise I'm not sure what he's going to do.

Ps. They haven't asked for my contract (fixed term) so I suspect they're not even taking my salary into account. We did purposely only borrow within the limit of what my husband's salary could get us just to be on the safe side in case I don't land a new contract right away.
  • Currently have my application pending with The Post Office, I went through a broker.

    - End of june provided my broker with last 3 months payslips & bank statements, p60, proof of ids, proof of address etc
    - Last week my broker told me that my application was all agreed (90% done) and subject to a valuation survey being carried out
    - Valuation survey booked for end of july
    - Looks promising, just over one month turnaround.

Question: Will the underwriters ask my employers for an employer reference? If so what questions do The Post Office ask? Im fully employed position for a year.

Seems like not everyone here had an employer reference done, and also a few people here didn't submit any bank statements (which I find surprising).

1 month and 2 days.... and counting since full app submitted..

Valuation on thursday (not that the PO have told me that, but found that out from the EA)

We've been waiting what feels like such a long time now that we've become a bit numb to it all.

Freddy, it just depends. I don't see why the bank would need to see bank statements in the normal case. You put your debts on the application, so they know from that plus salary if you can afford the repayments.. debt to income ratio. [That's my thinking anyway]
