Morning all
OH gave me £20 yesterday:) - he had won some money at our local pub - I did try not to take it for about 5 secs. I have my nephews birthday this weekend so I'm taking £10 out of that money. I keep thinking I should give him more but he is only 5 and I have tons of nephews & nieces and it is gettting expensive.

oldestgnome - I've watched the french plait videos over and over but can't do it, I get a bit done then we just get in a complete mess. I have learnt the fishtail plait and cocoons from youtube though.
Lilt - it sounds like you have been having a lovely time with your mum and dad.
I bought a family and friends railcard this morning, I got a free one a while ago and they give you an offer of £10 off so it was £20 for the year. I plan to use it quite a lot over the summer holidays and then we are planning a trip to London at the end of the year.
I also joined the RAC it was £30 with £15 cashback and they include 6 months home emergency cover.
We are spending the first day of the school hols at home, I have told the kids they need to help clean their rooms and then they are washing my car and cleaning the inside (they are responsible for the mess inside) and then we will walk to the cafe in the village for an ice cream. I am doing a big batch of chilli, half for tea tonight and half to freeze to take on holiday. Lots of washing to dry on the line in the lovely sun today too.
In summary I have spent money today and am going to epically fail the 15 SFD's this month.Debt Free and now a saver, conscious consumer, low waste lifestyler

I am determined today will be a SFD. We are nearly out of toilet roll and kitchen roll (essential for puppy!) and we have no bin bags, but I am sure we can make it to tomorrow, unless the puppy has other ideas.Food budget is tight, although I reckon dog food will last until Friday, so that's £10 I can use for the toilet roll etc, hoping to also afford a bag of salad as I'm trying to be healthy and lose weight, but have very little fruit and veg in.
Since it's the holidays, I'm back on the fly lady thread, so the kitchen is being sorted today, and it looks much better already. Hopefully by Friday the whole house will be much cleaner and more presentable, even with the animals and OH living here
Also planning a car boot in two weeks, so need to hunt around for as many bits and pieces as possible that can go towards earning me some pennies. I've never made much at car boots before so any tips would be gratefully received?

So, there wasn't going to be any spends this week at all.. and here we are, monday lunchtime, when I am usually safely tucked up at work, and look what's happened. I am working from home today, getting reports done, and discovered that there are some smashing cycling shoes on 3bay in my size at a bargain price. (I know I know, what was I doing looking for shoes on ebay when I should be writing reports?... in my defence I have also done one of the two required reports). I had been discussing with DH last night my need for some cycling shoes for the upcoming dualthon and my ongoing plan to cycle more and run less as it's better for my knees. So, I have bought them. eek. still having some palpitations and post spending panicky feelings, but it's one of those spend to save situations. I emailled DH to ask what he thought before I bought them and he was very non committal, so I think he is going to be annoyed tonight.
We are visiting an old friend tonight who I knew from my days down in the big smoke. She is up our way camping on holiday and has invited us to a bbq. I am just wondering how much custom dictates that we arrive with food / drink with us, given that its a week night and we won't be drinking. I don't have anything in the house suitably bbq-y, and really don't want to go to the shops to buy anything to take. I think we'll take some soft drinks for all. A fair compromise?
So, that's me done for today's check in, as I won't be home tonight.
new totals:
• 11/15 SFDs
• £143/£160 food
• 12/20 Exercise
but there should also be a run this afternoon to take that to 13 when I finish this other report!
Enjoy the rest of Monday folks.. xLBM Aug 2013 - DEBTS AS OF THEN £25,150  now: £0 :j

Tiptoes, have you maybe got sausages or chicken in the freezer that you could make into kebabs. Or a simple potato or pasta salad?
Today should be an SFD. Harvested some tatties with DS for the week and done loads of washing. Otherwise a boring day. Will check in again later.DEBT 02/25: total £6100 Debt free date 12/250 -
Hi gang
Apologies for falling off the face of the earth this last week but everything's been a bit up in the air what with work, overtime shifts and having house renovations underway! Lots of running around different shops while Ive had a few hours to spare, comparing porch lights, door handles, paints, tiles etc which has inevitably led to lots of spending!
I have taken my eye off the ball a little where finances are concerned. I have all the receipts put aside and have kept a rough tally of purchases but I will need to sit down with a brew and go over it properly. On my last internet banking check in, my account hadnt quite caught up with spending and it looks much healthier than it actually is! I hate that feeling of not knowing exactly where Im at with money!
I Have lost track of SFDs n all and think Ive managed a pathetic 6 so far! I will need to top the car up with fuel today and buy a birthday present so thats another spend free day gone up in smoke!
Refurbs should be completed by the end of the week which coincides nicely with pay day and a fresh start thank goodness!..
Soldier on folks!

Not an SFD afterall. Dropped hubby at the airport and then bought paint gor the hall and some fruit, uht milk etc that should do us till Fri when he's back and off. So I maybe do a bigger really well planned shop then.
No painting tonight though. Will just get myself organised for the next few days.DEBT 02/25: total £6100 Debt free date 12/250 -
SFD achieved
Down to last half a roll of toilet roll and no kitchen towel, so tomorrow will definitely be a spend day.
Returned nearly half of my Next sale purchases today so will pay off the rest on payday (Friday).
Had quote from locksmith today =£200 but we'll finally have reliable doors and I won't have to worry about getting locked out or in.
Exercise session number 4, finally achieved. I'm going to try do one sweaty/Lycra session a day now, so can still make my target.
Started decorating today, just doing the rooms/surfaces that I already have paint and equipment for. Hopefully the house will look a little less run down when I'm finished, even if it's not a complete makeover.LBM = 07/09/13 Debt = £13339 (100% cleared)

Hi all!
Happy near end of Monday!
Tiptoes- I have the exact same inability to do a french plait with my own hair *and* curl my hair with straighteners!
Planned spendy weekend in London Town- Birthday present from friend to see Bill Bailey live at Kew Gardens last night was absolutely worth the hike to get to! I lost count of the miles I have walked over the weekend! My spends were within budget with a whole £2.06 left to spare!
SFD today, using up items in the stores for B/L/D. So bringing my total to a measly 9 SFDs so far!I think August will be a much less spendy affair!
Time for a hot choccie! :coffee:
Catch you all tomorrow :heartsmil:coffee:

loveadove I know!! I am beginning to think it's actually impossible and it's all just a conspiracy / joke about using straighteners to make curls. It just makes my hair straight with an odd kink in it!
Well, BBQ was lovely, and I took along some pop that was on offer and some bbq condiments as I guessed they wouldn't have all sauces etc with them camping. Good call on the pasta / potato salad Thrifty - that's a plan for next time I think.
night all x
Edit: confession - I didn't do the planned run. shame on me.LBM Aug 2013 - DEBTS AS OF THEN £25,150  now: £0 :j
