The reason me and dh havent shopped in such an establishment for years is because of this and their terrible uniform which is enough to put any sensible shopper off entering Wilkinsons for life.
The op's expetrience is simply a power trip for the assistant and nothing more.
So if the OP (or 'friend') had been asked for ID in Harrods that would be ok because it's a 'high end retailer'?
And honestly, how is a sensible shopper put off from somewhere because of the staff uniform?!? :rotfl:
If it was offensive in some way I could understand, but the staff in the Wilkinsons near my work just wear red shirts (unless of course people find the colour red offensive). Maybe your local store have a different uniform policy!0 -
I think this will be as entertaining as the I can't phone 101 thread

Don't be silly.
If a child chews a packet of cigarettes the nictoine can kill them, cigarettes are dangerous lit or unlit.
If a child plays with a knife they can cut themselves, knives are a danger to children, no discussions.
If a child plays with an unlit candle what is going to happen? Come on, tell me. I'm intrigued.
Matches and lighters are dangerous, which is why they are not sold to children. You need a match or lighter to make a candle dangerous, is that really so hard to grasp?
My daughter has bought me many a candle, none of them lit, none of them dangerous, from lots of different shops. Not once has she come across one that was selling lit candles, if she had, quite rightly, they shouldn't have sold them to her because that would be dangerous.
Which is why there is no restriction on selling candles to children, this is not a government policy, only a Wilkinsons policy.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -
Did the Wilkinsons staff member used to work at Subway and Travelodge? She must be running out of places at which to upset customers0
