I had a look ... it's not as bad as it could have been! The shelves are caked, but the bottom/sides aren't too bad.... I think it's an Oven Pride job..... I'll pick some up :)

    If you can wait...

    I know I shouldn't, but I could just cry.

Overall: shabby, grubby, dented, bashed ..... and small.

    :)

Shabby, grubby, dented, bashed, small, not liable to be inspected, not liable to have LLs drop round, able to be changed to be how you want it, and ... all yours, just yours. :D

Hugs for the disappointment - I do understand that it is real, and that this house is not by any means all you were hoping for. But it is yours, and you are free of all the frustrations of renting that have been driving you nuts. Try to hang onto that. :)
Still, they at least got out by 1pm and we got curtains up (no thanks to them taking the runners off the curtain rail with them...). Can you stick something over the bedroom window with masking tape? Tinfoil or something?

My vendors took all the curtain poles with them. There were blinds on the windows as well, and they did leave those, I'm glad to say.
Oh and ours did sort of clean as well, but not really. I find it odd that when your renting you have to get it "professionally cleaned" with carpets steam cleaned and curtains dry cleaned etc, but selling you just hand it over in whatever state you fancy with no recourse.

When you are renting you have time to clean the property while it is empty, because you usually have a gap between moving out and handing back the keys. Most vendors don't have that.

Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.
    :)

    Hurrah PN!

Good neighbours , people who have standards and who if you feel in a pickle you can probably turn too as well! What luck!

In turn, they have a kind, nice, quiet neighbour , whose GT ing will not be overly gratuitous. Sounds super!

    What lir said.

Missed the gossip because you'd deleted it by the time I came along :( but glad you are feeling positive about the neighbours. :)

DD1s actual birthday today, the box of 2,000 loom bands got upset and all mixed up, DD was very upset so I have spent half an hour sorting out tiny elastic bands into different compartments by colour. Next half hour spent getting the remains of plastic milk bottle off the hob that DW had melted on to it.

I have seen some horrifying pictures on Facebook of kids falling asleep with a band wrapped around 2 fingers and the fingers turning blue.

When we bought out flat, in London as it is, 4 neighbours left notes welcoming us to the place, 3 of them accompanied by alcohol, and 1 by flowers. One of the alcohol offerings was from a very well-known DJ, too, who lives in the building. I'd never heard of him before we bought the flat, though! I'm terminally uncool

    Keith Chegwin I presume?

Phew! Glad it's not "that bad". :) I have to say that I'm still thinking of getting someone in to do it for us... But that's because I'm not fit enough to do it, and OH tried to clean it once already  with only marginal success. :rotfl: He really does his best, but with doing the majority of the housework and all the cooking I think he deserves to not have to clean the oven.

The shelves you can take outside to treat, less fumes in house that way if you need to use heavy duty stuff on them.

I still think it's totally off to leave a house dirty when you leave, unless you know it's a definite rip out and renovate happening. Hugs to you PN, :grouphug: I did have a bath this morning, so am fairly clean. ;)

On a similar note, I used to know an A&E nurse who had a story about a teenager who put a key ring over his old chap.
