Mar might and bovril seem to be something that make me really very Unwell now. In a rather gruesome way.
I've always been a take or leave marmite person, but when you want that really savoury twang it's very good.
It's like when they told me I could neither fly nor scuba dive. I have no real interest in scuba diving, I used to free dive and snorkel, but scuba means too much faff to me,equipment and organisation, even thoughthe payoff looks fabulous. Anyway, someone says you cannot and suddenly you really , really want to, at least for a couple of hours.
I get these transient problems, but the marmite and subsequent attempt withy bovril was something else. Not sure I'm prepared to try again.0 -

In one job I had, in 1998, our bosses booked the BBQ and paid for all the booze/burgers and we went off, about 50 of us, straight after work and there was a game of rounders. They only did it once, but then the company were taken over shortly after. Brilliant company, best job I ever had....
The funds came from the Project Fund - and both bosses had a budget for each project that they could spend on "frivolity" - and the two bosses clubbed their funds together to pay for it. So the crowd was everybody from several IT departments that'd been involved in a big roll out.
These are the ones we have over here. You just push a button and off you go:
Sometimes in the National Parks you put a dollar in a slot.
You rock up with a pack of snags (sausages) and away you go. When one person finishes you have your turn. A really nice park down the road from me has about 4 of these.0 -
Bovril is contraband over here so it can't be posted. It's made of cow and Aussies are scared of getting mad cow disease, despite not being cows by-and-large.
For the same reason, I'm not allowed to give blood.0 -

Apparently, the 75+ age group voted a resounding "no"
, whereas the 16 year olds voted "yes". Twitter cries of the young being stuck with the old's decision long after they will need their pensions! My feeling is that this vote has had a really positive outcome quite honestly. The Scottish people I know here felt really angry that being in favour of the union made them somehow unpatriotic. That the result was so overwhelmingly in the negative to independence has, I think, given Scottish people a real pride that they can be both Scottish and British.
I also suspect that it's given a fillip to the UK as a whole. The country tends to be pessimistic about itself but this result has given the UK a legitimacy that it sometimes feels it doesn't have.
It's fantastic that Nationalism, with all the inward looking negativity that goes with it, has been so comprehensively set back.Bovril is contraband over here so it can't be posted. It's made of cow and Aussies are scared of getting mad cow disease, despite not being cows by-and-large.

Looked up CJD deaths. Variant CJD seems to have pretty much disappeared...but genetic and especially sporadic cases seem to be increasing sharply?I think....0 -

In the UK, if widespread, too many would be vandalised or pee'd on overnight0 -
Is this a help re the upgrade to iOS 8?

Looks like the Devon BBQ sites are two in number: Exmouth and Budleigh Salterton - and are now "first come" basis.... making them more likely to be grabbed by people with kids as they can get out and grab them earlier. Turn up after work and you're likely to be disappointed. Booking makes it fairer as everybody gets a chance.
Here's a panoramic view of it: 360cities.net/image/exmouth-maer-bbq-area
You can't see it from that, but the beach is just the other side of the hedge, then a pavement/road/pavement and beach.0 -
