That is what I thought - but Friday?

Friday, last Friday of most people's summer holidays, the Friday after a bank holiday weekend .... will be particularly busy as you've not only got all the usual commuters, vans/lorries returning to base up country, etc, but swathes of holidaymakers making their way home on the Friday rather than the Saturday morning ... "to beat the rush". If you think that's bad, it'll be worse in the morning!

Yes, people have their dogs names embroidered on them. It means if they cancel the order these luxury beds ( usually bought via Internet or catalogue) are less sellable, because people don't want to have a bed with someone else's dogs name on it. Me, I'm not so fussed. My dogs cannot read, and that's the only people who should be bothering what's written on a dog bed. Full price these beds are v. V. Expensive. Buying them with some other dog's name on them they are just expensive,

Knowing RP's name, the fact that someone has a dog with that name is perticularly amusing :D. That is one bad !!! dog.

    Yes. Fridays too.

303 was busy very early this morning too, surprisingly so.

When it cleared a bit I discovered as well as weekend, commuting and holiday traffic, I'd hit the road at the same time as four laden hay trailers :D

I guess if I was a farmer and used to have my life blighted by holiday traffic I might take a certain satisfaction in timing my trips carefully....
    I think....

One of the worst fridays in the year, always is. If it helps, feel sorry for the crew that left Anglesey at noon, tipped near Helston in Cornwall at 8.30 and are now heading back to Manchester. For us, it's the equivalent of offices having work experience kids about, everything takes longer and most haven't a clue what they are doing!

Re threat level, Nato thing by Cardiff may account patrly for the increase in the threat level. Can't move some of our kit for 2 weeks because of it, security is super super tight.

It is true, that for some, in some areas .... it happens. I've heard stories down the local pubs ... among locals .... where they've joked about a good time to take the tractor out for a run between fields, just for this purpose.

... not many of them on the M5 though :)

I went to the theatre this afternoon, to a show which is suitable for families.

So, I expected there to be lots of kids there, it being a matinee in the school holidays and all that.

However, I really wish that the people behind me, with about 5 or 6 kids under 5 had:
    • at least tried to stop their kids almost constantly kicking the back of my seat
    • at least tried to stop their kids talking at regular volume when they felt like it
    • stopped their kids using the railings next to me as a mini-playground a couple of times
    • not issued them with those really noisy sweets which need unwrapping, throughout the performance.
I did make my displeasure known at the 'railings' bit, when they started landing on my cycle helmet on the floor, and one of them did say "sorry" apologetically as they left, but that doesn't really cut the mustard when they've done naff all during the show.

I'd paid quite a bit of money for my ticket and deserved to enjoy it just as much as they clearly felt their kids did.

Yes, you can get feral brats even in posh places these days!

Rubbish it on Facebook, having researched appropriate hashtags ... and see if the theatre offer you a freebie :)

In this context, "weekend" means Fri-Sun, or maybe even Fri-Mon.

It's beginning to apply to the M5 north of Bristol too now. Earlier this summer I did Gloucestershire to Manchester on a Friday, setting off at lunchtime. At a normal time of week and/or normal time of year, it takes me 2.5 hours. This time it took 6.5 hours.

Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. (Link permitted by forum team)
Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

'Velvet' bed, we think. The rat was a purchase from an ikea trip recently. Kiwi put it to bed there immediately.

That's exactly what PN is looking for! Do they have other colours?
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?
