Cheese like fruit cheese. The Brit version of membrillo.

You speak as if we should go "oooh!".... instead ... more googling :)

Edit: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quince_cheese ... now just need to find out what a quince is.

    Quince - looks like a pear, but isn't: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quince

I have two quince trees and a third on order for this year. I'm not getting any more. I was only going to get two, but saw one with lots of fruit that I'd ruled out in a garden centre at a very good price and bought it. ( it cost about the same as the fruit would have cost) It lost all its fruit in the ruddy June drop.. Still, covers my bases a bit more for the future, The one coming this winter is not a reliable cropper but is meant to be sublime when it does.

How come you suddenly became an expert on turbos. Other have expressed surprise that the turbo has gone at only 70k.

WE had a Lancia Y10, good, Fiat Tipo - carp, Lancia Dedra, Good, Fiat multipla with 4 year warranty - brilliant till the warranty ran put, fiat multipla cheap with engine remap - ok till gearbox broke, fiat stilo cheap - very good except power steering failed would have been 1500 from fiat but was 400 at local garage, current multipla - carp, first under warranty then even worse since. The Y10 had a little rust but did a season in a ski resort and was 12 years old, the Dedra had a few bubbles but more than 10 year sold, the others have no sign of rust despite the odd scratch and knock but the mechanicals are all poor.

Could probably get recovered to home under autoaid and odds are we won't get it back until Thursday at the earliest but it would still be nicer to get home under our own steam and we need it when we get back.

I'm still a fan of autoaid, but I've discovered their only weakness is the locals they call out in some areas. Unfortunately in my area they have a bunch who're technically competent but deficient in the office department.

You have to chase them near the deadline for the invoice so you can claim it back. Autoaid deal with it fine when it arrives, but getting the breakdown service to sort it is problematic.

There are other MSE breakdown services which don't require payment upfront; http://www.autonational.co.uk
There's also http://www.startrescue.co.uk/ but I've never used them. That would hold me back, that there's no uptodate review.

The reason I've not looked round seriously is because even if I lose £50 on the odd occasion it's still cheaper than most of the services I'm familiar with, by a long way.

But that doesn't compare with that shoddy treatment their subcontractor gave you. I'd make that info known to them ASAP.

If I break down, it's most likely that I'll be on my own with the two kids. Consistent quality of service is more important to me than getting the cheapest price.
Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. (Link permitted by forum team)
Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

Click to chat to a real person - ask them. It says it doubles the range of your phone... so double what you're getting now :)

And "take calls to up to almost 500m away from your base outdoors"

But that will depend on where you've got electrical power available.

    Ah.

So potentially not as good as that new phone.

Either way we have to buy a phone. ( ours hasn't worked since the big lightening storms, we're guessing our phone took the brunt some how)

I was reading teh various posts that you were making about phones and thinking we need new ones.

I said this to OH, who suggested I bought new batteries. Guess what..they are fine now.

Today DDs ex has texted about travelling on a cat a meringue.

I thought this might be a vessel for LiR's cake.
