It may be that whilst fresh white would look better, that slightly sumfaded 'grubby' white would look much worse?PasturesNew wrote: »One of my secrets is: I like to bulk buy 'bargains', but feel a sense of shame when I do it.... so, I rarely get to do it .... but, I've been out to Lidl this morning and bought 10 packs of rice pouches..... I'll go out again 2-3 more times over the weekend and get more..... I guess I should do some "proper shopping" too ... so might get a loaf and some sugar too (for my weetabix).
24p/pouch - and better tasting than that Batchelor's cr4p. So many pouch rices are just vile.
I don't do shame if there is a bargain available …Doozergirl wrote: »It's a blockwork wall (those big grey ugly bricks) so it needs to look bold enough to like it's by design, not just that I cba to render it, which is what a sensible colour would acheive. I hate this house anyway. Everything I've already done looks awful. What happens when you renovate the inside of a house in a matter of weeks and in a dreadful depression. Totally uninspired.
I need plants now. Cheap ones big enough to make some kind of impact.
Hoaw about institution beige or green to get that prison chic look?!I think....0 -
There ought to be an app for that.
Aren't there lots? I live my holiday life vicariously through other people's facebook.
The weather forecast for the next week in Devon is carp except today was going to be a decent day, it has just started raining. I know it is not a PMA but I associate Devon with wet and being too cold. Yes it is not abroad and thus supposedly easier and cheaper to get to (sarcastic smile), cheaper and more child friendly but it has never sold itself to me however many times we come.
Fiat can not quote accurately today but suggest about 1200 plus vat, Google suggests about half that would be reasonable if we can get an independent garage to do it. We budget 750 a year on car repairs and servicing, based on previous cars which had a 100 service and mot and probably 2 tyres for 100 every 2 years this seems ludicrously much and yet we seem to exceed it by miles every yearI think....0 -
I don't really have any family holiday stories. We did go away, but not very often. Last family holiday was in 1997. I've been away a couple of times in the UK with my mum in recent years.
Next family holiday is... 2014
We'll be staying in my brother's one-bed flat (he is abroad for a couple of years). I expect there will be tales of arguments aplenty
I love it that you still holiday as a family.
Our last family holiday was one Xmas when we took them to Florida. It wasn't a great success, our hotel was deserted most of the time, DS1 was bored and let it be known. We had a few good days, but not enough that they want to repeat. We went away with DS2 when DS1 had gone to uni, that was a good holiday. We took DS1 away after his masters, when DS2 was at uni. He dumped us after 3 days to stay in a hostel so he could team up with other young people....

Fencing's just to deter squatters, robbers and idle kids as it's Grade II listed.
It's this bloke's house http://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/news/liverpool-news/failed-national-front-liverpool-mayoral-3345741[/url
He's also in the BNP.
Wow, Pastures - what Doozergirl said! Did some further searches on him, and it seems he owned Quiggins before it was demolished. And he now has a shop in our little arcade down the road, which was picketed by Anti-Fascists! Amazing what you find out on the net isn't it? :rotfl:When strategic projects due to take a year and cost $20,000,000 take more than 2 years and cost over $60,000,000 nobody loses their job or limps away with my foot in their bottom. It's very stupid.
Add a few more zeros to above figures and it begins to like like UK Gov IT projects!lostinrates wrote: »Definitely prefer inky pool on my screen.
Sea urchin looks a bit drab not in a good way on my screen and you know how I like grubby colours. So if I see it as drab I'm concerned.
I'm with you on this one, LiR. I thought the sea urchin looked a bit over-brown. The inky pool has some green to it, sufficient to my eye to not look Too Blue.0 -
Fil, smil and my sil went on holiday this summer. Shudder, six weeks or something. They spent some time meeting up with bil , and his family.
I think its great. Not for me, but great.
Fir corrected me, it was longer than six weeks. Gulp.0 -

Are you short of time? Does it need doing before you return home? I suppose local facebook groups may throw up some recommended garages.
My facebook newsfeed was dominated by Gaza, now it is overrun by fat men taking the ice bucket challenge. Men really need to learn that t-shirts should remain in place, if they have the figure where looking at their toes while standing up requires leaning so far forward that they risk toppling.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. My (north facing) bedroom in this house was something along the lines of Inky Pool or Sea Urchin when we moved in. I found it very dark and gloomy. The room is yellow now.I'm intrigued now. Mostly, things work or don't work. Work once, then stop is unusual. Which box in options?
It's something to do with whether file extensions are explicit or not, I think. It was crashing it at the point where the code renames the file and saves it to the user's N:\ drive (ie personal network drive).PasturesNew wrote: »Since cords have killed so many kids .... there are an increasing number of cordless solutions it might be worthwhile googling for.... including probably a remote control oneGo on, look, I bet there's a cordless, remote control blind
There'll be some on a "tug and let go and they spring back" mechanism I bet.
New regulations mean it would be illegal for anyone to sell or fit a blind with a cord, so whatever blind she goes for will certainly be cordless.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -
