For what it's worth, if the other curtains were only £16 pounds more and were perfect... I think you should have splashed out.

Having said that, I'm sure once the seaside makeover of the room takes shape, I'm sure the curtains will look different again.

Congratulations on your new curtains

Edit: and I'm pleased they turned out to be blue!
Well... the grass is always greener on the other side. I bet if I went back to that shop now ... I'd find that they weren't as perfect as my mind had made them :)

    I'm happy with my lot.

So far, there's no "theme" evolving - but there is a random collection of blue and stripey things appearing ...... maybe, one day, a theme grows by magic from that :)

I think maybe I need to look at some yellow things.... or getting some shells in my bowl. Only shells I've got so far are a lovely heart of shells from a NP, hanging in the window - and a bowl on the windowstill where I've chucked a handful of shells I collected from the beach.

In a month or so, parking at the beach will be free... and I'll be able to go down and do some foraging.... at the seasonal £1.60/hour I wasn't feeling I'd get my money's worth.

I have beans, hash browns, sausage and eggs for my weekly cooked breakfast at work. Yum.

Every Sunday we have a full cooked breakfast @ about midday. My favourite meal of the week.

If you don't use cups is there any way of making nipples non-obvious?

Saw Silvercar and Lirs comment about them too.

No, only padding will cover them but you can disguise them with colour blocking and use a darker/ stronger colour in that area. Double lined in self fabric is great but unusual in High St production as it , effectively, doubles the cost of the outer more expensive fabric....but I think it's worth the extra cost.

In the end, nipples, esp ones that have breastfed at some point, will always show through after a cold swim ;)

On Wednesday I needed to reply to a serial PITA. Well, four replies actually. This person is a legend in their own mind, pompous and confident but wrong. Most of what I was writing we had already discussed in meetings and phone calls which he acknowledged. He was however bemoaning a lack of communication so I decided to confirm everything in writing.

I had to get a colleague to work with me on drafting the replies as I could not trust myself to be professional.:(

you know what, I am really glad that I don't 'have' to deal with 'types' every day. Read Gens post too and I sympathise.

I did get 'stitched up' though this spring by one of The Most Disliked High St buyers of all time.

She is so disliked within the industry that very large labels (T/O 's of millions) refuse to supply the company she works for purely because they refuse to work with her.

I can be candid here :D

She calls me up to go and see her. My agent (who deals with larger companies on our behalf) said don't go.
They are The Worst for knocking off.

.....but I hate to turn down any opportunity at this point so we thought we would be 'clever' about it. No pdf catalogue, hold some styles back and take a print out and samples only.

She loves it all and dopey me get's lured into showing other things too.

She books an allocation (this is before you get the PO) which is as good as an order....but not a definate....so I post her samples of all garments, a pdf showing al the garment details (nice and easy to send to a factory to copy) and wait for the PO.
This doesn't come and we are fobbed off for 3 weeks before I get the message that 'Oh, I have changed my mind now....''.

So, I fell into the trap and now I will see versions of that work in their 100's of stores this AW / next SS and there is nothing I can do about it.

She has done far worse to others and they have incurred large financial loss due to it so I did get off lightly....the units were coming from stock we already had and that was paid for.

The big problem with the provisional orders are that the lead time is so tight, so that if you are making to order you have to get on it straight away, order cloth, start production, commit to the numbers the factory will make. Then the PO comes in later.
It's quite standard but it has been known for them to then change their mind + you are halfway into the docket.
They then offer to buy it at cost.

This afternoon I brought someone home that I've only just met  :D

He seems very nice. Now I've just got to remember to close the bathroom door (and preferably lock it) and not walk around in a state of undress.

Not a nice way to do business. Hope she gets a healthy dose of karma at some point.

I hope you never deal with her again fc. If you're ever even thinking of it, please let us know so we can forbid you!

Good to hear they are up. You can buy 'bobbles' to pop onto the end of the track. I am sure B+Q will have some that will fit. I think poles come in 2 standard depths / circumference. Just measure the pole and I am sure you will source some.

Did you order the silver sofa's?

    Who Who? Is it LJ?

The buyer will eventually get her karma as she'll get dumped as she can't bring in the new ideas...she can only con new labels and a lot of supposed 'new labels' out there are just sub labels of large manufacturing companies....and they don't give her the 'new' ideas that she seeks.

Actually I have another tale about her that I will share another time....:D

We look forward to housemate tales.... there's somebody on another thread that had either as a thread, or a post, "I accidentally sh4gged my lodger" :)

Yes, bobbles..... or I can Heath Robinson something :)

Not ordered the sofas.... had a random thought today "what about a cream faux leather sofa?" - now, I've dismissed faux leather (aka plastic) before as it's slippy slidey .... but I did have a look and they're a lot more expensive than fabric. So it'll probably be the fabric. I figured I had some spare time to mull it over as it's the BH weekend so deliveries wouldn't have been "tomorrow" from anywhere.

If you were an author and had sent a manuscript to a publishing house .... or a game maker, who sent a letter to Waddingtons ... or ... thousands of things .... and those companies had subsequently "used your ideas", it's a suable item - I've seen them in the papers "XYZ Nicked My Idea..... Compo Wanted"

Why does that not happen in your world? You sent a PDF, she robbed.... case closed.... ?
