I thought LIR's photo was somewhere else/some other time.....

    Is that your house, today??????

    OH NOES!!

That worries me least really. In cleaning scheme of things anyway. Its two rooms, clearly under 'construction' that will only be used to walk through to go to loo/ cheese room while people are sleeping in other rooms. That's almost all clear now, DH is taking last barrow out now ( loads of dust in there from bricks anyway). Will take ages for that dust to settle.

... I didn't know there were different things. I've only ever been used to "one broom..... does everything".

So where/which room, is that photo from then?

(It doesn't take much to lose/confuse me).

Its the room under secret dwarf room, behind sitting room with the ugly glass doors dividing them? Does that ring a bell?

Amazing project, if we're doing it for you!

1200 square metres is truly palatial. All the Nice People would fit easily.

I'll see if I can find any pictures of the villa some time. Appallingly decorated and furnished oddly but stunning building. Beautiful rooms. The kitchen had a little mezzanine in it. And a huge flat stone sink.

Yorkie your home county is looking glorious this morning.

Gen, are you able to watch the Grand Depart in Aus?

ETA: that little estate road they are riding down in Harewood is really narrow, I've driven along that many times. I can't believe how many bikes abreast they have. Scary, and that's before they go fast!

I saw them go past today - blink and you miss it! The weather has been kind (i.e. dry) here too, despite a weather warning for heavy thundery showers. After the bikes went through our main local shopping street remained closed for a street party :D

I've done my first bit of drilling :) With my new drill :) (with a bit of tuition and supervision from a responsible adult)
I now have a towel rail over the radiator in the bathroom.

    :T

I still remember how inordinately pleased I was after successfully putting up a shelf using my new drill :D

I am not a fan of "stakeholders". Especially stake holders from the community (see above).

Commentators who have rights without responsibility. No relevant experience is required although the ability to make up anecdotal evidence is is useful.

Having had an important sounding job title once, in a long since declined british business should enable you to hold teh floor in any stakeholder forum. This is a meeting where someone expert in the topic will pretend to listen to you and then carry on explaining why the organisation is an outstanding success despite the current headlines.

Oh, such an accurate definition of many stakeholders

It's all a long time ago now ... I'm sure I'm "missing" 1/3rd of the house if I try to recall it.

I'd describe your house as: in the door, room to the right. Go into that one and there's some wonky doors through to an area (left) and kitchen (right with a staircase). If you'd stayed in that first room, there's another room to the right through a door.

Somewhere beyond that's a bit new bit, but I can't think how you'd get to that....

For upstairs I remember: Up the stairs, loo/bathroom(?), 2 beds.

I'm not very good really am I :)

I've got you in a 2-up-2-down with a new bit somewhere.

Ok, through those wonky doors , the bit before the bit that was a kitchen then,

Bang on, description really I think. :). 'New' bit is the cheese room in which we cook. And the study ( which was a kitchen before you came here Nd a utility room, and a downstairs loo, and a big area taken up by the biggest heating system I've ever seen. ( that room was decent size now its basically a corridor!)

Some of the houses locally which have a 2 storey rear extension like ours had a gable end instead of hip and no ceilings making a high galleried effect bedroom - I think that sort of architectural faciness looks out of place in an extended 30's semi....

Soaring ceilings are beautiful but expensive to heat. Another reason for not having them in a domestic residence in this cold country.

Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

If I win Euromillions (I think even standard millions won't do the trick) then I know who to call! If it's still on the market that is. If not I've got two other castles on my buy list. I have to win Euromillions though... there's no point in owning your own castle if you can't afford to heat it.

I suspect its a £1,000,000 project, ending up with a house that is worth half that. That's why it is derelict, of course.
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

Lidl had run out of something I intended to buy on the 3rd when they were for sale... bit annoying. A solar powered security light. Oh well, I'll look in another branch tomorrow ... and beyond that I'll just keep an eye out for some.

Beware of cheap solar lights. They only hold their charge for a few hours after dusk and have gone out by 9:30pm in winter.
