Entertaining is uplifting...but are you looking at this through the wrong end of the telescope whist you are not as well as you want to be?
Is cleaning the best use of your energy?0 -

Mmmmm, Nandos....“The great enemy of the truth is very often not the lie – deliberate, contrived, and dishonest – but the myth, persistent, persuasive, and unrealistic.
Belief in myths allows the comfort of opinion without the discomfort of thought.”

Really, really have to clean.
I did try calling round some local cleaning companies. The forts said they were too busy so set round calling others and realised this was a common trend....cleaning firms are all busy here ATM. I think if I accept I won't make a silk purse out of a sows ear and chip away I'll have best chance. And if doing twice have more realistic opportunity of decent result.0 -
She'll realise it's not being done but I can come up with very good reasons for it by prioritising other bits of work.
There is one thing that I really want to complete before leaving because it will be a lot of fun. That will definitely be getting priority over everything else.
Seriously, why do you have to come up with good reasons to not do it? Why not just smile, say you will get round to it, and fail to do so. What on earth can she do to you? Start disciplinary action?Still striving to be mortgage free before I get to a point I can't enjoy it.

At the moment I have what amounts to 6 months notice. That can become 1 month for no reason under the terms of my contract. Much easier to do this at my leisure.
I deal with risk for a living. I know exactly what I'm doing. This will all end in the best possible way for me and my family. Nothing else matters.0 -

I also want to do some ' snagging' patching over bits of missing paint etc, so I'm not going back wards. I feel so much like I've been even failing to tread water recently, so I'm starting way behind where I'd like to be.
I get it that this is frustrating you and that getting it sorted is important to you, but... please please please don't overdo it. It'll all to be to no purpose if the house is beautiful but you are too ill for them to come at all.At the moment I have what amounts to 6 months notice. Sounds as though you have it all in hand. Well done.
A month's notice is outside my experience. Our contracts are for a year in the first place, and then permanent. They can only get rid of you after going through all the right procedures if you're incompetent, or quickly if you commit some kind of gross misconduct, or if your job is actually redundant and they can prove that they will not be replacing you because your job no longer needs doing.
But then of course, our salaries are the kind of amounts that people who work in finance wouldn't get out of bed for, and we don't get expenses (well, not beyond the train fare or petrol if you go on a one day course once year, or similar) or bonuses.
I learn so much from this thread. Other people's worlds are so different from mine. I really enjoy being able to be friends with the kind of people I'd never even meet IRL.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -

Have posted this over on the house buying "have a look at this" thread, but thought this would be a nice project for Doozer (if she fancies a little something Italian). It's soooo beautiful....
