    Partners...

I am married to my husband. I work in business with my partner. I really don't like partner to imply a romantic attachment. I'm also particularly keen that if I introduce my partner to anyone, they know I mean in a business sense. His wife and my husband however would find it hilarious.

I don't think I've ever used the phrase "my partner" without some qualifying word between "my" and "partner". So as a student I had a lab partner (student I did practicals with) and a tute partner (student I shared tutorials with). More recently I've had a tutor partner (teacher I shared a tutor group with) and I now have a teaching partner (teacher I share an A-level set with). If I have friends who are in partnership business-wise, I refer to their "business partner" to avoid any ambiguity. I try to refer to other people's other halves with the words that they themselves use. Some of my friends use "partner" to mean "person I'm cohabiting with" or "same sex person I'm married to", so I refer to those people as "partners" too.

Fir and I just in. Yes I'm tired and sore. But ok. After supper we left our hosts house with out coffee to go to one of the guests place to see his work ( artist) I loved three of his pieces and loved the way he works I. Other pieces. Fun, fun, fun.

We talked about art and colour and life and stuff. Was fun. I know have very blood shot eyes, swollen legs and pain but had fun. Night night.

Just what I was thinking. :)
Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. (Link permitted by forum team)
Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

In light of what has happened to me subsequent to being told that they're just going to pay me what I have a contractual entitlement whilst reminding me how lucky I am and also seeing the treatment of other people at work who have cancer too I feel quite hard done by.

I've been mulling over the whole thing of not having my contract renewed and I can only assume that it's down to having cancer with the information I've been given.

In late December I had my contract renewed and was told how great I was. In my appraisal on Friday I was told that my boss had been unable to appraise my work so far this year, i.e. nothing has changed since January except for me being diagnosed with cancer.

It's a crappy way to treat someone, really crappy. Having said that, the sooner I leave, the more horrible tasks they have to complete. There is one task in particular that I can drag out that isn't possible to be completed. I won't be completing that no matter how horrible my boss is about it.

This is outrageous, the implication that really you haven't been working very much at all. I'm so annoyed for you.

Good. You've nothing to lose. Let's hope he doesn't realise you won't be completing it, so is off your back about it and only realises a week after you've left :)

She'll realise it's not being done but I can come up with very good reasons for it by prioritising other bits of work.

There is one thing that I really want to complete before leaving because it will be a lot of fun. That will definitely be getting priority over everything else.

It is indeed. It's just nasty.

It's a pity the last post-holder isn't asked for a company reference by the person being interviewed for a job!

    I've been Money Tipped!
I too think the photos are gorgeous, and the boys are gorgeous. I'm not at all surprise Isaac is a good brother. He has wonderful example of sibling affection in his parent's generation and sees loving family relationships and seemed a dear fellow to me.

Nevertheless siblings can be hard and those beautiful moments of quiet love are just gorgeous. Absolutely gorgeous. NDG, you are a very, very good and clever girl. I'm immensely proud of you, you're doing a wonderful job, and such beautiful happy looking boys, so well loved.

Next couple of weeks I have to pull my socks up, get my house clean and stuff organised for the gig / sleepover. I think I'm going to have to do this in two clean throughs of the house. :(. A first attempt at a deep clean and then a second one after the first one)

I also want to do some ' snagging' patching over bits of missing paint etc, so I'm not going back wards. I feel so much like I've been even failing to tread water recently, so I'm starting way behind where I'd like to be.

That is a very good idea.

    Home from Race for Life

K's husband arrived so he, OH, the dog and I were her support crew.

She had a picture of K surrounded by hearts and stars stickers on her back and was beaming whenever we saw her. Seeing hundreds of pink T shirts many bearing a story of who the runner is running for is very emotional..OH cried as we stood behind two teens who had signs that read "my mum".

Lots of good news and outcomes but like Gen and Viva knowing that it is a trial getting there.

Daughter completed in an hour and a quarter, I feel really happy for her and so proud of her.
