    Stunning aren't they?

I'm sure it has great potential to be a money pit, nevertheless I can admire from afar.

Did you bang it or did it just fall? I hate bringing ceilings down as it is so dusty.

Just back from CK's neck of the woods having been a soccer dad for the afternoon, DD2s team came 5th out of 8 including winning the 5th/6th play off on penalties. Some of the 'soccer parents' from Watford were pretty competitive (girls aged 7-9 football).....
    I think....

Have posted this over on the house buying "have a look at this" thread, but thought this would be a nice project for Doozer (if she fancies a little something Italian). It's soooo beautiful....

.... the roof would need to completely rebuilt as a first step and that would be quite a large expense to start with, probably somewhere between 50,000 to 100,000 euros.

Not for the faint-hearted then is it.

Those arched vaulted ceilings? Dh's villa had those in some rooms, beautiful.

Some of the houses locally which have a 2 storey rear extension like ours had a gable end instead of hip and no ceilings making a high galleried effect bedroom - I think that sort of architectural faciness looks out of place in an extended 30's semi....

Notice the yard broom, not domestic one in the house.

Michaels, we had pondered pulling it down because it was our longterm plan. Its had repeated soakings from various problems and this last one was the last straw for two non sequential bits between beams and they had started to fall. The dogs sleep in there, so I cannot leave bits of ceiling randomly falling. When we looked closer the ceiling was FULL of mould:(. The third one which we touched while looking at the other two came away, damply, by mistake, so we decided the mould and the falling bits in mind, we might as well just get it off. It only took and hour and a half so, not a big job. Sorting out the remaining mess however.....

The floor boards of secret dwarf from are very, very wet, Last year doozer said five or seven needed replacing. Now I fear we'll lose all of them.. They are wide old boards, probably one of oldest things left in house and we wanted them to be the ceiling of the room below.

Amazing project, if we're doing it for you!

1200 square metres is truly palatial. All the Nice People would fit easily.
