Whilst in the US, I saw a short film about how Twinkies are made, so I thought I must try one. I could only find a 10-pack at the local supermarket, but it was not very expensive. I bought that, tried a single bite out of one of them, and could go no further. I left the remaining nine in my room for the cleaner.

I should add that I have a sweet tooth, and I am not particularly discerning about what I eat. But these were something else!
I have a special theory about trying anything for the first time..... you can only do it in the company of an "expert". When you try something, you need to have somebody else eating the same thing, to tell you if that's typical, good, or bad. If it's a bad one, without the external verifier, you'll never know it was a bad one and will have the opinion that they're all that bad.

Needs a GPS chip in a collar :) ... and a smartphone app to find him.... that probably goes for RP too :)

This would be good, if he were wearing a collar when he hides. :(.

Mine don't wear collars at home ( unless sometimes when people are hear it makes things easier ). This is partly habit ( show folks don't do it because of coat damage) but also safety. A friends dog ( springer spaniel) was strangled by its collar on a door handle. Never will I risk it. The girls are at door handle height, kiwi jumps that high, often is ontop of his crate or rather disgustingly on the kitchen table. As a result my kitchen table as never been cleaner as I HAVE to clean it all the time just in case he has been on it.

My youngest brother is a bit like that. Tends to look and dress like a tramp. Although he is now 50 and lives with our mother, he doesn't have many social skills and won't talk to strangers. Sometimes I could be walking along the road and he would be walking towards me, then he would cross over to avoid having to talk. (It's not just to me, it's to anyone). We do worry what will happen to him in the future; I could well see a situation where he was the local weirdo and was accused of something for just that reason.

    Sounds like me :)

Re ebay ... there is a local auction rooms that is billed as "one of the biggest...." I think it's even been on one of those auction room TV programmes. They have a weekly household items auction - so I put it on my list for when I bought a house.

The week before completion, I rushed down there, excitedly, on Viewing Day to get the measure of the place .... I expected some cheap furniture/sofas to be present. I expected to become a "regular" until my house was full of acquired goodies.

All I can say is it was the shabbiest, grubbiest, dirtiest collection of old tat that had ever been assembled. Truly shocking/appalling cr4p. That's why I've not been back since.... maybe I should have a quick look again this week.

I bet in the future, the microchip vets inject into pets will include a tracking chip.

Did you try the zaartar yet? ;). There were two, did you like one better than the other? One is more thyme heavy, one more sumac.

    I loooooooooooove sumac.

As well as having with bread like I said, ( which some people find a bit like eating dust, I don't it love it) you can cook with it.).

You can get Twinkies on Ocado! A pack costs £7.50. I think I spent $2-3 on mine, and I reckon I was robbed.

They do look gross. They glisten with the syrup and sugar in them and the fake cream looks rank. They are available for £1 each in a local sweet shop and I think £2.50 for a small pack in Tesco. They are certainly infiltrating the UK. I have not been tempted.

At the festival we went to in WA last year, they were selling deep fried twinkies.

As long as I've lived here, whenever I see a parakeet or a parrot I think, "Someone's going to miss their pet".

Richmond Park is full of the bloody things although they are just green all over. The tree behind our new house usually has two or three sitting in it, screeching their heads off!

Those places are always full of crud. Sometimes you get a gem but it can take weeks. I have a proper old, used steamer trunk made in Hong Kong with the remnants of 'Pacific & Oriental' stickers that I got for £15 at one. Getting a bit bored of it now, but at the time I was over the moon. I could certainly sell it for more.

Ebay is easier to monitor and you still have to look at loads of rubbish before you find a good one.

I really don't like the way those flat packs are made and a two year guarantee is nothing. They have a niche market that they will be good for, but you aren't that niche market. You have a decent sized door to your lounge as it will be built to accessibility regs and you're ground floor living.

    I was hoping you wouldn't ask :)
I had to eat the pittas before they went out of date, but haven't got any oil. I did consider mixing it with mayo to try it ....

I do intend to try it, but "properly" ....

I've never "eaten oil" and never bought olive oil .... so it's a bit of a leap, for me, to go and find/choose the right oil, then look at it and think "that's chip fat that is ... and you eat it, apparently"..
    :)
