I suppose you will have already gathered from my previous posts that I am unlikely to be able to make any kind of NP meet before the end of the first week in Sept, unless the inquest finishes early.
I hadn't realised the inquest will go on that long. I'd dress for comfort, mainly. Sober. Respectful. Unlikely to offend. If you are not testifying, there's no need to dress to impress anyone.
You are going there for your own benefit, and for the kids' benefit.
3 weeks is a long time. Take plenty of school work with you.No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -

That keeps the chicken a bit more moist by decreasing the rate at which evaporating water can escape. Oven cooking works by the entire oven and the air inside it all being hot, so the chicken gets hot, not by heat radiation shining at the food like it does in a grill.
When I am using foil as a baking sheet and to stop drippings going into the grill pan (e.g. grilling fish fingers, sausages or burgers) I'd always put the shiny side showing and the food on the shiny side.... I thought it might draw in the heat and make things brown/cook quicker/better.0 -

My barrister reckons three weeks is just in case, and it'll actually be shorter - more like a week and a half.
School work is a little difficult. At this time of year the only kind of school work is preparing plans and resources, which is best done in school with a shelf full of books and files and a photocopier/scanner. I'm more likely to spend my time making conversation with the other people there, being a chatty sort of person. It was different at the settlement meeting, where I got left alone in a room for a while on several occasions, at a time of year when I had plenty of marking. I did find it a bit odd switching suddenly from questions about the ultimate fate of the universe to matters of compensation settlement and back again, though.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -
I spent the day indoors, trawling through newspapers for "random people.... might be related as they have the same name...." and discovered one (who is definitely related somewhere) - might be GGGG-grandfather's brother, or the next generation down. Manslaughter.... was in a pub and ended up in a fight that the other man insisted on having. Other guy gave up and stopped fighting, went home .... and died nearly 2 weeks later of injuries relating to the fight.
Prisoner arrested and put into jail until the court case came up - then it looks like he got a 1shilling fine (some characters are iffy) ... and let straight out as he'd been in prison for 32 weeks awaiting trial.
Reading the case, it was a bit flimsy as he hadn't asked for the fight, had kept trying to put the other guy off the fight ... but the other man had left, then come back to the pub and insisted. Then, when the other guy said "I've had enough", he stopped and let him go home. So all pretty "civilised". The area was rough as 4rseholes and the prisoner had already been in court for the local riots that had been occurring.... it was a hellhole back then (1841/42).
While I enjoy this .... I wish all newspapers were available (free) - and I wish I could nail who it was exactly. To find that out would require more (payment) searching through court records to try to find an age, DoB or address. Papers just give first/last names a lot of the time.0 -

Shame - I was wondering vaguely about the Friday before or after the BH but I guess that doesn't look possible.I think....0 -
Thanks for the info re. chrome / silver reflection Lydia - never knew that!
I know it means buying something, but if you only have 1 pair of trousers and you want another pair, you could try M&S's basic black trousers - they used to be about £15 so might have risen to about £17 by now. Fabric is stretchy and they are a little bootcut in the usual different lengths. Completely indestructible and you could alternate them with your suit trousers without anyone noticing. As long as you ring the changes with the tops, nobody will give it a second thought.0 -

Well, it all depends on how long the inquest lasts. It may all over by then. I'll keep you posted.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Oh yes, it'll mean buying some stuff but I need some more work clothes anyway.
Oh, and the second cheque's arrived. I'll pay it in tomorrow. It should clear by Friday so then I can get rid of the mortgage.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Excellent news Lydia. One less thing for you to concern yourself with.0
