I thought you have to talk your OH into a kitten?
I love kittens. Our cat is old and grumpy, our dog chases cats and he is also old. The road outside has claimed the lives of all four of our boy cats. So no kittens here any time soon.
Your piccies are right up my street..smiley babies and boxes of small furries .
I like them too.
I would have to talk OH into a kitten - and it would be an uphill struggle to talk him into one, let alone half a dozen!
However, even were OH to agree, I don't think now, with a baby, would be the right time to acquire a baby of another species.I'm flattered that you included me in that list.I have a mere 8 days and 8 and a bit hours left of being 44.
Are you having a bash / family dinner / other celebratory event?Kermie must be doing great things for the average NP weight, if we're allowed to include him.
The question of what to wear to the inquest is now getting really pressing. I would have some options if it were winter, but am not sure if any of them will really do in August. Even though my solicitor's not going with me, I might phone her tomorrow for sartorial advice.
He's probably coming up to a stone in weight, so yes, he'll definitely help the average!
I'd wear something sober and not striking. Do you have some linen trousers, or quiet, comfortable summer dresses? What do you wear to school in the summer term and early in the autumn term?My nephew went to Cornwall, camping, with his partner and children yesterday. He has commented on FB that it was probably not the best day to swap a house for a tent.
Yup - definitely rather him than me!
OH wanted to take Kermie camping next weekend. As I'd have to go too, I veto-ed it. Camping with a baby seems an endurance exercise to me, rather than fun....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -

Whereabouts do you go camping..presumably the car gets an outing...or is it high packs and carrying everything?
There is a very nice campsite (as in not many facilities) near PN0 -

.
One of those kittens was mine, and died when I was nineteen, I still feel guilty for leaving home without her, but she was the best cat a girl could have had. She chose me as a kitten and some how she got to stay. Travelled the world with the rest of the menagerie and slept in my room even when I wasn't there. Pink whistley is the same colour as that cat0 -

Oh, and I'm getting a gardener having given up on the wilderness.
I'm with lir - even thinking of making a list is too daunting - but I'm also with viva because getting a gardener will be on it.
This week's list is bad enough:
1) Make sufficient progress with DD's room for her to move back in there, and get the spare room ready for my dad.
2) Do enough school work that I am either ready for next term or ready apart from stuff I can do up north without going into school again.
3) Make sure I have enough inquest-suitable clothes for potentially three weeks in court, and pack for the first week.
4) Get my sets' A-level results and go out with my work friends for my birthday (a few days early because I'll be away when it happens).Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -

How are you feeling? Have jabs proved useful at all? I still expect general life overwhelm, but...is there any physical improvement?
Do you know what your day off next term will be? See if we can arrange something to counter that envy situation.
I also want to invite spirit to the Wreckstoration some time soon ish, should she be game, so don't know if any other nice people would like to turn into a 'ladies lunch' thing? spirit, my dogs are other dog friendly, but playful. If you dog is up to it, and chicken safe he'd be welcome. ( he could hide in the house if he decides he hates them)
I would love to come, however I would leave the duppy at home. He is feeling his age and enjoys outings but a day would be too much. He is chicken safe but still thinks he has got what it takes to chase a cat. He hasn't.0 -
Hope you have a had a good week.
How did you get the Caravan there in the end?
Finally found someone who was going to the same event to tow it down for me. He couldn't bring it back, though, so I hired a bloke off the website that PN recommended. Thanks PN.lostinrates wrote: »I think I am spared looking for dresses.
Neither parent is in the country for fir's thingy, the two other people I go to first cannot dog/ house sit and neither can the vet nurses. I feel being relieved is not the healthy reaction here.:(:(:(
I love Lydia's trawl through everything we have posted.
Thanks. I'm relieved that you're enjoying it rather than being irritated by it. I think I am a bit OCD about needing to catch up on every single post of this thread. And then when I do catch up, I can't resist replying, however out of date I'm being.

It's a nice reminder of what we have waffled through.
I made a courgette and carrot salad last night. I forgot how things expand when grated. So half was set aside and the dressing only went on half. Today I made courgette and carrot soup. It will need to be frozen. Funny how the same veg work as a salad and a soup.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. I 'm enjoying it too.
Its like exactly what it is, when a friend who has been a way returns and catches up on what's been happening.0 -

I spent most of one gaudy I went to throwing up in the ladies. It came on too quickly to be the food at the gaudy - must have been something I ate earlier in the day or else a bug. That was more than 10 years ago, though.PasturesNew wrote: »So how does foil round a joint of meat/chicken work then?
I've always wondered if you're supposed to have the shiny side on the inside or outside.... and some don't seem to have the sides very different at all.
That keeps the chicken a bit more moist by decreasing the rate at which evaporating water can escape. Oven cooking works by the entire oven and the air inside it all being hot, so the chicken gets hot, not by heat radiation shining at the food like it does in a grill.lostinrates wrote: »were you married where late mil is sprinkled? lostinrates wrote: »Lydia, what do you wear for parents evenings / school events in summer term or early autumn?
Trouser suit. But I only have one. It's charcoal grey. I'm not sure if it would look a bit too businessy. I wore it to the civil court when the judge rubber stamped the settlement we'd made with the defendants, but that felt a bit different. I might wear the trousers with a top and smartish cardigan.
But it's going to last at least a week and a half, and anything up to three weeks, so I can't wear that trouser suit every day.lostinrates wrote: »How are you feeling? Have jabs proved useful at all? I still expect general life overwhelm, but...is there any physical improvement?

I think they've helped. They were right at the end of term, though, so I can't make a direct comparison until next term starts.
Next term (all of next academic year in fact) my day off will be Thursday. I would love to come to anything you organise with any other NP.Do you know anyone who's bereaved?
