Nice People 12: Nice in Nice

In Dickens and Jones on the Designer floor an extremely condescending assistant was doing her best to make me feel inferior as I tried on a dress I liked which cost several hundred pounds. I decided to buy the dress..her attitude towards me changed suddenly I warranted better service.
What is it with some shop assistants? Many years ago we had a trip to London when the kids were quite young, to see Eric Clapton at the Albert Hall. I've always loved Liberty, so we went there to have a mooch around, I bought some small stuff, a shawl I think, and then we went down to the basement cafe for a cuppa and a snack. OH went off with the kids, leaving me with all our bags (this was en route to the station on way home) sitting at a table - this was fairly early on in my ME/CFS life, and I was too knackered to go up to the counter (self service). Some posh old woman in Liberty uniform came up to me and looked down her nose and told me I couldn't sit there! I pointed out OH and the kids, and she just about allowed me to continue waiting for them to bring me my snack. Grrr! :mad:0 -

This has just sent a shiver down my spine remembering our infrequent trips to McDonalds when we were little. My mum would try and get us to go and find a table whilst she queued up. I always hated having to do that and sit there wait on my own for everyone else.
I've just decided I'm having the afternoon off. For no particular reason (though I do have a few errands to run) - just because
I'm also pondering whether to buy a mirror, probably for over the fireplace in the dining room (/ junk room as it currently is). This one has caught my magpie eye: http://www.brandalley.co.uk/14612566.html0 -
Another tooth extracted, and three fillings. And that's it, at least for three months.
Oh well done! :j
Speaking of dentists, DD1 picked up our mail en route to local cottage, and dropped it off yesterday. Seems my Nice Lady Dentist is taking maternity leave, so I've had a letter from my new (male) dentist with a re-arranged appointment. Sigh.I think I'd better write back and let him know how dental phobic I am, also that pain relief is often a problem for me (I think that's fairly common in ME patients - metabolise the local anaesthetic too fast I think).
Never mind the menu..the view was amazing.
Thermomix £885:eek: POSH ALERT
Must admit I took a nosy at the Thermomix too. I think it's one of those things for "When I Win the Lottery"!0 -

The best gadget would be one full of slots - where you tip raw things into the slots then tell it what it's got. e.g. whole apples, plain flour, eggs in shells..... then you choose a recipe and press a button and it selects the right stuff, does what it needs to with it, then cooks it ... so all you had to do was fill it with stuff..... so it'd be a replacement larder, fridge (even freezer slots maybe), veg rack ..... and cooker, all in one.0
