Nice People 12: Nice in Nice

... look ....
Look .... don't say "Fine filly that one, bet she's frisky between the sheets, I'd show her my little nubbly if she plays her cards right .... 20th hole I'd say - she's probably a 3-pinter "0 -
I'm going to cross swords with you on this one, PN, even if that's not a very 'nice' thing to do.
There is a gulf between looking at ladies, and actually doing something about it. Like there's a gulf between thinking how nice it would be to murder your boss and actually doing it. I may be a dinosaur, but I don't think it's wrong for men to look at women. I don't even think it's wrong for *old* men to look at women, which is just as well as I'm getting older. I'm not even sure that men can help themselves. It's programmed into the genes. I've heard that women look at men, but we're not talking about that for some reason. It happens all the time, without anybody being molested.
I would challenge you that you are not looking and having lascivious thoughts. Nor would you 'come on' to whoever you were looking or only perceive them as a possible opportunity to massage your own ego or possibly worse.
I am also pretty convinced taht you and your sons would be less than impressed if that was how your daughter/wife were perceived.
My OH meets lots of young people in his job. Thousands every year 'pass through' his organisation. This week he and I were looking at a book of photographs from a recent event. We admired good looking young men, pretty girls and young women. Faces wreathed in smiles or frowning in concentration. A colleague of OHs featured several times as he has a slightly wizened sea faring look.
There was not a predatory word uttered. I bet teh GDB household would be the same. My point today was the new realisation that a 'dinosaur' is amongst my acquaintances and that it has lowered my opinion of him. As I said what pleases me is that most men i know would politely ignore or protest grubby remarks.
In the book ee also admired porpoises, Tall ships, uniforms, small birds and a short head of state.
OH has a sort of 'where's wally' approach..his aim is not to be in. We found the back of him at a dinner and a 'face in the crowd'.0 -

Mrs Wheezy does the same, but the ones she points out never score high for me....
Also, when I see someone nice on telly (like Naz, the Sky weather woman, giggity), she often points out stuff like 'awful dress' or 'she has horrible legs' or something similarly incorrect.0 -

I know dh's type just fine,. But, men do often have awful taste in women's clothes. Fir adores roll neck sweaters. The fluffier the better. He likes to think of the goods being kept warm and safe.

You should protest and get rid of it.
I will PM my address.
Perhaps she thought (given your culinary prowess) that this was a treat/toy and that (you and Mrs G) deserve a bit of spoiling.
I've just realised by not having a mil we've potentially missed a whole load of presents. Fil is not good at presents. He doesn't remember dh's b day or anything. Occasionally fir says, its my b' day, can I have this cd or book? Fil is not in the least up generous, he just doesn't think about it. His daughter is very organised about contacting him for stuff, and I understand he is GREAT. With the baby. He is NOT a mean man.0 -

Sometimes, it's better to send money, and let the recipient choose what to do with it?No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -

I have so far used it to make:
Bread (v. disappointing but I didn't to the second prove)
Strawberry jam: overset but again that's my fault and it was remarkably easy for the quality of outcome
Dolce de Lecche: Bad recipe. Won't do that again. Hot milk everywhere. Arrgh!
I want to try choux pastry next. That's a good test of something that is slightly pesky to make that this thing should turn into a breeze.
They're sold through party plans: a guarantee that something is overpriced. Tupperware is good too but simply not worth the money.0 -
Tonight we are having a romanesco from garden and yellow beans ( with lamb shanks and mash) feels weird having meat and a heavy meal on a Friday. Oh well.
. I'll start to think about those lamb shanks soon I suppose.
