Lights off here too. Seems to be quite popular. Just the chavs across the street haven't bothered.
I go to bed around 9.30 ( I am so rock and roll - not), so it's lights out except last night I was out and about with friends and had left lights on so the chavs were put off burgling. i can't make up mu mind if I am a chav or an anti-chav now:p

It's good to know that your minor foibles are a source of great merriment for your sister. Can't you just kick her in the balls, so to speak?

GDB, I didn't expect to hear that from you - but I have snickered greatly.

LJ, I love your car choice! I have a soft spot for open top cars, and that definitely is one. Don't listen to PN. An open top car does not need to be fast or handle particularly well to be great fun. It's much more relaxing and enjoyable, so there isn't the same incentive to get the journey over with as quickly as possible.

For my midlife crisis, I bought a black MX5, which was lovely until it was TWOC'd and wrapped round a tree.
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

I didn't even know it was a soft top. Looked like a "big black car" to me. :)

Congratulations, lemonjelly. A celebratory groin thrust on the newly populated drive is necessary!

    Happy birthday Chewie,

Lovely car lj! Does the new car smell dissipate quicker in a convertible?
Thanks! Although 3 years old, it still has the new car smell! It's an ex-demo model, so has a very low mileage.

I already love it GBD. I wanted a hard top convertible 8 years ago, but found too good a bargain to miss out on at the time.

This is the first time I've bought the car I wanted.

    LIR, I remembered!

    Check the following links out:
Very basic is the gov.uk page on time off for dependents. It has been extended to adult carers, so FIR as your carer can request time off, & also can legally request flexible working (though the employer can refuse this if there is a business case):
    https://www.gov.uk/time-off-for-dependants/your-rights

There's a lot more detail on the ACAS website on the right to request flexible working:
    http://www.acas.org.uk/index.aspx?articleid=1616
I'd strongly encourage you & FIR to go through the ACAS guidance on the code of conduct, homeworking, & also how to handle reasonable requests for flexible working.

In addition, there is also this:
    http://www.acas.org.uk/index.aspx?articleid=3235
which covers time off for dependents & emergencies.

    Hope this helps.
I also have a leaflet I can email you if you'd like? Let me know via pm. Any questions, just ask. :)

I saw the radiotherapist today or rather his assistant.

She's very happy with progress and reckons that the debilitating tiredness will fall away over the next month or 2. My burns are, as I thought, going down nicely and I don't have any obvious signs of the cancer coming back so far (they can't scan me yet due to post-radio damage).

Oh and she was very pretty indeed. I would love to give her a dodgy hug if I wasn't married!
