    There is a limit, though. What happens if all the people in our street get together and vote for independence?

    You'd have to ask the Govt - and if they said it was OK and we'd adhere to your decision, then you can vote and go independent. Although it'd never be granted, of course, because it's not reasonable, sensible, independent somewhere in history, etc.

    Cornwall has a claim to be independent. If you look at that story it looks like Cornwall was always a separate country and then it was just "forgotten" that it was separate and included in England so often/for so long that it became how it is today, but it's never been formally annexed to England.
    Cornwall is legally a territorial and constitutional Duchy with the right to veto Westminster legislation, not merely a county of England, and has never been formally incorporated into England via an Act of Union.

    Cheque has finally cleared. Have paid nice round number to my dad. It's about 3/4 of what I owe him. :D

    Still no news on the other two cheques though. :( Hurry up! Don't you realise I want my mortgage free badge??

    Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
    Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

    The British Government got pretty grumpy when this lot decided to declare themselves independent despite not even being British!

    The cheapo laptop from dell for £160 has arrived. Delivery was exceptionally quick, which is quite the opposite of the laptop. Silver, you might be better off spending a bit more in order to get more speed.
    No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

    Nobody can come out of IKEA with ONLY the things that were on their original list.

    I know! When we go to IKEA we just wander around the display aisles seeing nothing we like and then in the marketplace or whatever they call it, Mrs Wheezy goes bonkers and fills several of those huge yellow or blue carrier bags with stuff like;

    a LUDDE sheepskin

    We were driving along a motorway in Belgium and were looking for the next services. We changed out minds when we saw the IKEA chimneys near Brussels and took the exit and used the store as a pitstop. Great thing is it's easy to find from quite a distance, and as we knew the food already, it was a touch of familiarity for the kids.

    There seemed to be so many motorways in Belgium, I was amazed they still had room left over for buildings and fields. :p
