Just had a call on my mobile, recorded message about "fraudulent activity on your card". They gave a number to call, but [a] you've not got a pen and I'll prefer to go through the usual number thank you very much.
So now in the queue to talk to my bank. Didn't spend much yesterday - just the big transfer, that was checked/approved by them on the phone yesterday .... some tobacco in Mr S and another £2.70 in CoOp.
Edit: Well, at first that looked like a proper/legit fraud and I was passed to the fraud dept, but when it was checked out it turned out to be my US website hosting auto-renewing (annual) at $300/£175. So I gave that the all-clear. Makes your heart go though! Poor timing too with all the other stuff that I've got going on and moving about financially ....0 -
Zoopla gets data from Land Registry once a month and then messes with it according to its own dodgy algorithm. So the day the new data is loaded there must be a big adjustment to bring the algorithm results into line with reality.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. I shall look into that one as well.
This is a Lenovo ideapad.
DD and OH have Lenovo,Dell and Apple.
I had a choice of this or MacBook Air, but I am not an Apple convert
OH also bought Microsft 2013 so I have up to date word/excel/powerpoint.
My main stumbling block is windows 8.1 and that the start up screen had all these (useless to me) Apps. It did not take long to unpin all of the dross from the front, load Google Chrome, pin MSE forums, news and Bank to the front.
8.1 internet explorer is a pre loaded App on the start up screen and that (I am told by IT lecturer friend who came over last night) is the problem. I need to download the desktop version. The problem is user experience...the screen size is huge and when Imake it the right size it whizzes back out again, there is no X in the top rh corner to close applications....if I load the desktop this will be fixed and apparently the App has been fixed too.
Physically this is light, has a good feel and the tablet/laptop function is easy. There is a Microsoft cloud app (skycloud/onecloud) and a built in camera.
Adapting to tech upgrades is not coming naturally to me, and my dear OH knew I would be grumpy. In reality it has not taken long it is that I refused to engage with it for 10 days that has built it into a monster0 -
I have a lenovo, and I really like it. When mine got stolen last August, I chose to replace it with another one....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0

Dither, dither, dither.
Know the host well enough to disappear and kip, don't know other guests at all, so will forever be 'that weird woman who just...went to bed'
Go for it.
They will have met you..and if you are off colour and disappear be polite and non judgemental.
If they are not, then it is no loss if they think you are weird.0 -
Worrying a bit about my mum as she's being 'urgently referred' to hospital after going to the doctor with a lump and pain in her left breast. She's a very negative thinker so I'm trying to be as positive about it as possible. I don't think there's any point in worrying when you don't know what the score is, and there's no reason to expect the worst as she seems to (there is family history, though it may be coincidence). Hoping for the best anyway.
The urgent referral is good...as it will quickly put minds at ease or get treatment underway if it is needed.
A big hug for you and your mum...and it is reasonable and natural where there is love for you to worry. As you know...we are always here.0 -

My mum is 81. She is just about back to her normal life pre-op - aim was to get well enough for Wimbledon (she has court 1 debentures and has been there every day so far).
All the best for your mum and will be thinking of you. Treatment is so much better (and probably faster) than it used to be.0 -

All that other stuff going on is exactly why it's triggered. The hosting will be the straw that broke the camel's back, so to speak. Good work by the bank, really.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

I have a turquoise lenovo. I like it because it's turquoise. My computer man says that Lenovo's are very reliable.
He told me this when he made Windows 8 look like windows 7 again for me. Cost me £10 or £20 and it all makes sense again now. Apps make sense on apple products, can't get my head around Microsoft ones.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

I think the other thing to remember Mas, is even if its the worst news, its one of the most well understood cancers, and treatment options are many. The worst news does NOT mean the worst outcome.0
