I thought everyone knew that amounts were available online. Clearly they don't?!

Most have probably heard you can find out ... many will know/have looked at some prices at some point .... very few people expect to be financially stalked by neighbours :)

I'll admit to checking the house prices of everything I come into contact with - from houses I used to live in, to the addresses of murdered people on the news :)

Problem is it doesn't necessarily mean that.

Seeing the tactic of offering cash back offered here not on new houses but 'normal' ones. Even was suggested it my an agent at a viewing for one' they won't take an offer but will give 10k cask back on completion ) . People who own more that one property in area may be?? Or have family ? The one at viewing was a weekend house of an older couple.

Ah, must be more region specific .... or house type specific. Although legally the "actual/real (lower) cost" should be put onto the land registry forms, in the past/often it hasn't.

I thought all that "cash back" stuff stopped as part of the changes post-2007, when one of the changes made it difficult/dodgy-looking, etc.

Well, you can all look up mine shortly :) 210.

Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. (Link permitted by forum team)
Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

I'm tracking Martin, who is on his way here with a parcel. Its predicted to take Upto a further hour and a half drive four or five miles, so I'm guessing he's on one of his statutory breaks.

He's in a layby getting a burger and mug of tea ... and talking to Bob who serves it.

And/or, he's visiting a "lonely housewife" en-route, not suspecting you're geographically stalking him.

If you knew your identical next door neighbour was about to sell their house as well, then if you did know about prices being online, you could expect that your neighbour might be interested in what their own house was worth. I actually didn't expect the price to even be online yet. I looked after your post to see what Zoopla thought mine was worth. It thinks mine is worth £10k more. Hardly an exact science!

My non-identical neighbour went to market in the same month as mine .... they've exchanged, so keen to see how much they paid. It was priced £13k less than mine to start with, question is, at what price did it sell for...? I'll be watching .... and, no doubt, feeling "ripped off". I did pay the going rate for that type/size of house in that area at the time though, so that's just the way the cookie crumbles.

The last house "like mine, but with a half sized garden" bought at £23k less than me late last year.... and a year ago I could have got a half sized garden and one extra bedroom for £10k less than I've paid, but with "more awkward" parking.

The overnight massive changes were clearly as a direct result of yesterday's NW June figures.... it'll, no doubt, adjust down as the prices are levelled "over time" and time passes over the next few months.

Martin came, all at the same time as a bit of a plumbing crisis. Kiwi tried to sign for the delivery but Martin wasn't having any of it.

I have a lovely box of space nk sale goodies. :).

    Probably because he's not 18.
