BG, I've now got to switch. Want one, probably, with no standing charge. It's tough switching when you've no history as you're guessing. I've signed up to their standard tariff so I can switch.

Gas alone I've used 140 units in 14 months at the old place... but this place is bigger and I might not be quite so tight with it here either :)
    Who knows...

We've been with Scottish Power for some years now. Hopped from fix to fix and I was reasonably happy with them. Competitive prices, online account, no standing charge, correctly set direct debit...etc...

But earlier this year it all went tits up, they raised my direct debit for no reason while I was still comfortably in credit (and right before summer!), you just can't get hold of anyone on the phone, let alone online.
Then managed to get a refund, but they applied it double debit on the online account, other random debits appear...it's a complete and utter mess.

When my fix is up in November, I'm off.
I don't mind paying a bit more, I just have no patience for this.

If you or any other NP has a suggestion, I'd love to hear it. :)

Next one is "filter out those that don't give cashback" - dunno, depends if getting cashback/not would make a significant difference.

Initially don't filter out those that don't give cashback, they are in for those that want some cashback quickly. I dunno. I'd rather filter out the ones that do give cashback so I don;t have to worry about claiming it in the right time frame.

Best offer was a £157 saving and a £30 cashback. PC's playing up though, so didn't really look further into it all etc.

I decided to take yesterday and today 'off' to sleep. I woke up yesterday afternoon but stayed lying down, today I just felt like getting up a couple of hours ago. :j. I'm just going to pootle, not do anything. But a lot of my swelling on head and extremities has gone down, so I feel it was probably right time to get up.

Good to have some gentle down time, LiR. :) I found I had dreadful swollen ankles and feet in the heat this year. First time I've had that. Old age is creeping on apace! They did go down overnight, but on a few days they were so swollen I didn't go to the lottie as was worried would make them worse. OH went on his own and did the watering. And had some interesting conversations with our neighbours. One of them is a pro gardener, and has some grass seed from Everton Football Club! He said they get it from France, and it's a very fine bladed grass. It's replaced every year.
Today's little "jobs" (didn't break into a sweat....) were to contact the council tax, water and electricity/gas people and get those sorted out. CT new bill being sent; water phoning me back; gas/electric done - I went onto direct debit and their system suggested that for 1 person living in a house like mine the DD should be over £50 each bill/month, so £100/month. I downgraded my gas requirement, based on my old place bill (but this place is bigger) .... and downgraded the electricity requirement based on nothing more than me thinking "how much??".

I need to switch soon/next though.... now I am here I can look into that.

Don't go to En-Power (say aloud to get name). When DD2 and her DH stayed in our old home last summer they switched to them (we use the Co-op Power, we switched back to Co-op when they moved out) and my OH had a helluva shock when we had latest bill from Co-op, they said we owed them about £1700!   After many phone calls and letters OH finally worked out what had prob happened. Looks as if when En-Power made up the final bill they transposed a couple of figures. OH got phone call this morning from Co-op to say they've looked at the figures he sent them, and agree that that does seem to be what happened. Phew! :j We do owe them a little, but it's just going to go on the usual direct debit to spread it out. The Co-op guy said that they knew En-Power had some probs at the time, and DD2 and her DH had probs with their bill at our old home from them too. Just thought I'd pass that on! Poor OH has really spent a lot of time ploughing through papers, hanging on phones listening to music, and generally stressing over finding £1700 unexpectedly. I'm so glad the Co-op have managed to sort it out and believe him!

No, cable. For which we overpay.

The fan on my laptop is suddenly very noisy. Is there a DIY cure?

Take off the back and get a vacum cleaner in there.

Cheapest three (based on the system guessing my usage) are:
    first:utility*
    extraenergy*
    cooperative

Difference across those three is £19/year. *both have £30 cashback (presumably an additional saving and not rolled up into the headline rate?).

So, about £140-150 saving whichever's picked.

Co-op you get dividend, though I've no idea how much, more the spend the more you get I suppose. Not sure how it works, as OH does all of that stuff. I look after other stuff - landline x2 (home and caravan), TV, broadband x2, plus I've done the last 5 computer deals (though first ever was bought via OH's work with interest free loan as they wanted their IT people to have a home computer). If you're interested I'll ask him about the divi.

I know you have said that it's just not that simple to take time off from work, but you need more rest. Minor illness is tiring, major illness and the radio is just plain exhausting!

Far too identifying - there's only four of us in the UK!

Edit: I did try to PM, but you are full.

That's pretty impressive, only four of you. I tried to imagine a USP like that. There's a taxi firm near us where all the drivers are women. That is very popular for picking up single women at night and doing the school run.

Perhaps you paint your tractor units pink? Nah, I don't think so. What can it be?
