Either MI5 or MI6 have a file on me ... well, they did, in about 1979. They thought I was in some big Russian spy ring that was busted around about that time, that was in some way linked to this lot I think http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cambridge_Five

It was only after the 79/80 arrests came out in the papers I was able to piece together what'd gone on and why my mail had been intercepted (badly as I'd spotted it and blamed mum/dad for opening it) for the previous 1-2 years.

I've been lost in MI5;). I wasn't there opening PNs post BTW.

Sains always give me a till spit suggesting I will get extra points next time if I were only to spend twice as much as I normally spend which of course I never do.[/QUOTE]

Tosscos send me a note saying they will send me a £30.00 voucher if I spend £85.00 every week for four weeks. I'm a single gal, I can't spend that much.....so I stock up on customer Xmas booze. I feel I have won every time.

What size box is it though. We get the 85 wash megaaa boxes which do up to 2 months.
Well, the current one is a small/2Kg box. I don't wash on a specific day so it's hard to say how often. I could say 1/week, but then some things accumulate until I've "a load" of similar things and I'll then do two loads in quick succession, the regular lot I'd have done and the "made up a load" lot. e.g. whites, I specifically bought a set of white bed sheets and a white bath sheet JUST so I could make up a whites load. Although sometimes whites are just done by hand as they're so small. Washing I did this week was all by hand.

    Broadband sounds very slow :(

It does. I rebooted the PC/router this morning, then did a defrag, then did another test and this morning it came out at 2.15Mb download, 0.153Mb upload.

I'm sure the information they send out for connection says the first few days/week or so can be slow while the system "adjusts" or something. I think that's just so people don't call them as they're "waiting" for it to improve.... and after that time they've got used to it or fail to get round to calling :)

Is this BT infinity or BT's normal offering?

I'm getting 21.25Mb download, 2.06Mb upload. I suspect I'm paying more than you.

    Normal. No Infinity here.
Just had problems getting anything much to happen, so I've removed Avira and defragged. I installed it when HD had low disk space, so I figured if I reinstall it might use contiguous clusters, which might make that more reliable (it often hangs).

    Just ran speed test again:

    Download: 1.789Mb/sec
    Upload: 0.341Mb/sec

So broadband is getting faster.... now off to reinstall Avira to see if I can get the PC performing faster/better too. So two separate issues going on here.

You must be on fibre, then?

I tried watching catchup TV last night. Video was out of sync with the audio and it halted a few times while it caught up. Took me 1.5 hours to watch a 50 minute programme.

Just ran in internet speed test.
    Download speed 1.06Mb/sec
    Upload speed 0.345Mb/sec

As with all these things.... I'll now have to go and see how this compares. It's certainly feeling slow.

They (as in BT) say it takes 10 daysto sort itself out. Itwill drop off and all sorts before it settles.

The out of sync may be the PC rather than the connection.

Blimey ... after what I've just been through (18 days of a non-connected service), a further 10 days with it like this (potentially) is mind-numbing :(

Hopefully it'll sort itself out today by the magic fairies or something.

Possibly, it's under-powered.... but at least has 6GB of HD space free .... but it's a slow processor too. Maybe for catchup TV I should give my hot/noisy laptop a whirl.
