Sigh... looks like I've got a new learning project.

Actually getting to the point I can use Serif PagePlus to do what I want it to do is going to be a nightmare. I can tell.:(

Try posting an innocuous comment on the motoring board:eek:

Yes, like launching just one ship is a milliHelen.

I see a whole new raft of NPisms:D

Haven't committed drivercide as threatened yesterday; have even had a sorry for shouting and the comment that he knows he's better off than if he worked in general haulage. Long days and heat are good for no-one.

Well, I moved stuff to my Ext HDD .... and then ran CCleaner, then did a defrag (having got D: to 35% free).... then I used PartitionMagic to resize the two drives (C: was as low as 396MB). And it takes aaaaaages. Then, when it finished, I popped in to see if I could do a defrag and there's still only 9% on C:, so I really need to run PartitionMagic again to increase C:.

    Combined drives = 36GB; C is now 25GB with 2.4GB free; D is 11GB, with 2.9GB free.

While all that was occurring, it got a cooler, so I was able to function and I went out to move the car into my parking space ..... car dashboard thermometer said 42 degrees.

You can run XP with 1 gig of Ram, but you seem to be far too short of disk space. HUKD shows a 32 gig pen drive on amazon for a penny under £7. Would that be within your budget?

Would it help at all if I listed all the reasons why you could not possibly buy that?
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

I will be buying a new PC .... although now I'm wondering if I should just get a new laptop. I've a laptop already, but it runs hot/noisy .... so it's on the list and just important, not critical.

Don't you get disciplined/sacked for being late? In my experience you can't be late ... once, in exceptional circumstances, if you explain it, is OK.... but people being late to work as a matter of random routine wouldn't be tolerated in most workplaces.

If you made a post on these boards saying "Sacked for being late...." they'd lay into you and tell you you need to leave the house at 3am and walk to work to ensure you get there on time, no excuses.... :)

The latest I have ever arrived at work was 4pm. There was also a nasty arriving at 2.30pm incident when I was supposed to be presenting in an all day meeting in a 10am slot which was much worse.

Then again, I have never really had defined hours. When I was a trainee I technically did but I had to get in well before I was supposed to start in order to secure a decent desk anyway.

These days I just work whenever I want to within reason. If I turned up at 11am no one would bat an eyelid as long as I hadn't missed a meeting.

    I've been Money Tipped!
I'm tired. Tired in the way I cannot describe.

I need sleep. Got some cooking left to do and bed linen to sort out, and what ever I'm going to wear tomorrow night. ( seriously not funny ATM). Bad ankle might change its name to evil ankle.

It sounds pretty critical the way you were describing it.

That's the trouble. Sometimes people want a solution to their problems, and sometimes they just want to moan. It's difficult to tell, and I'm sorry I burdened you with an unwanted solution.

Might be connected with smoking. As your arteries narrow, your blood can't get around your body as quickly. That may impact on your body's ability to lose heat.

I'm hot on the outside. The hot isn't leaving my skin as the surroundings are just as hot. Evaporation isn't happening. I'd be fine if I had a fan running all the time.

    I'm still tea-towelled :)
