    I've been Money Tipped!
The only encouragement I can give you is: you've seen how I live .... do you really want to end up like this as the end, your best shot, as good as it got, ever?

    :)

OK, it's not bad.... but you see what the rest of the NPs have got going on ... and you deserve a bit of that :)

Kind, friendly, capable, independent, healthy woman.

Can think of far worse fates. :)

I think the bloke who did that died .... hit a big rock while in one of those body gliding suits.

Edit: Ah, no, bloke who was the Queen didn't die, it was the one who played Bond. http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/mark-sutton-dies-olympics-stuntman-2169489

In Stavanger we went out on a yacht past a land mark known as Pulpit Rock. A fellow guest at a dinner on teh same trip was a young man who cycled off the rock and then parachuted down. We saw a film of his impressive feat.

i was sad but unsurprised when I later learnt that he had died.

I have psoted before of the misadventure that took family members. That one of them had previously broken his neck in a mountain biking accident makes me feel that a high appetite for risk is hard wired into some.

Ahem! Why are you watching it?

So I can moan about it. Also I can't do anything about it as OH and her mum are watching it and I have the iron rather than the remote!

A bonding opportunity with FiL. You could take him out for a pint.

I'm not thanking that post PN. You've just bought a lovely house - for cash. That does not make me feel sorry for you :p

Likewise, I'm doing a lot, lot better than I could be doing. 2 years ago I think was around the time of the first NP meet up? I was relatively-newly single and living with my parents with no job (though I had an interview impending), no car, no PhD and no plan. Not all of those have changed, but the ones that have changed are pretty incredible really (I gained a job, a car and a house since then).

I've plenty in common with you (probably more than with many other NP), and I don't see how getting a PhD would change that? Not even getting started on whether it could or should change.

To be honest, I've thought a lot about your visit here .... and you were probably the easiest person to spend time with that I've ever met. If I were 20 years younger and lived much closer to you, I bet we could have been "IRL friends" meeting up every 1-2 weeks and even venturing on holidays together.

You were a joy to have as a glamping guest :)

... er, not that the other NPs aren't also lovely of course :)

You've just not spent as much time with them.

That is really, really lovely of you to say PN. It means a lot to me. I truly mean it when I say that I had a fantastic time. You made me feel very comfortable and welcome in your home. The home you hadn't had 5 minutes to settle into yourself. And I don't mean comfortable in that your sofa was nice to sit on (though it was, and I slept like a log on your floor so that was fine too) - but I mean YOU made me feel comfortable. You are a lovely person who has had some really bad luck (and a little good luck). As I said, I'd have happily stayed longer if I hadn't had driving and washing and going to work the next day to deal with.

As far as I'm concerned you ARE a 'real life' friend. You were before I invited myself round to yours (that's why I wanted to come over to try to help), but you most certainly are now.

He goes to bed at 8.30 so probably not. And he doesn't drink!

You're welcome any time. Self invited or not (I'm not good at extending usable invites) ....

And those aren't just words. So many pubs that salty sea dogs could be found down here.... and I could help to track one down for you.

Or, we could go back to the the pub with the Bentley at the door ... if you fancy something a bit more up market :) I think I'll sit in the car, it looks like the sort of place where we'd have to have a whip round for a drink and still only be able to afford one.

I bet a lot watching don't even know where Scotland is ... probably think it's some small island somewhere faraway.

Which is only slightly economic with the truth from the point of view of many commonwealth countries.
