@lir, that sounds really positive; it must be better for you on a practical and emotional level if fir could be around a little more.
@GDB, I only feed my dogs once a day, though they have dry biscuit available to them. Only one of them eats too much and she was brought up elsewhere for the first 6 years of her life. The others seem to self-regulate and we don't have any issues over food between them all.
Colour test, I get 10/10.
My recurring dream is of heading over Barton Bridge on the M60 in a van, it gets steeper and steeper as I drive up, then when I get to the top, it becomes like a cartoon and drops away very suddenly, bit like a rollercoaster and I'm hanging on to the wheel for dear life. Oddly every other driver on the bridge hasn't noticed and they are driving along perfectly normally:o
@CK, fingers crossed, it's a worrying time.0 -
The MH17 news is awful. It's one thing a plane being involved in an accident, but being (allegedly) shot down?
It was shot down. US has managed to confirm it was a surface to air missile. I'm not sure if i've mixed what I heard yesterday with what I've read here, but they can check for a UV trail of some sort?Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

Not a lot going over Ukraine at the moment and probably even less shortly.

No storms here....yet!We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0 -
10/10 here - didn't you say your son was colour-blind?
Both of them. DS2 claims to be able to "see" the colours once they are pointed out to him; DS1 can never "see" the colours. Yet they both don't seem to have a problem buying clothes etc and DS2 has a flair for art.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. The UN will put a resolution together that will allow air accident investigators on the ground. They won't be from US, Russia or Ukraine, but likely from the other countries. Malaysia and Netherlands, possibly Australia as countries that have a high level of interest, probably France and UK due to high level of ability in air accident investigation. Clearly US should be involved as it was American built plane, but they probably won't. What will then guide things is how Putin reacts. He's quite backed into a corner at the moment.
The rebels say that they have the black box flight recorders and will hand these to Russia. Under international law they will have to hand them on to the authorities investigating, which as you know from the earlier incident in this case should be Malaysia.
As I said on the other thread, it is inconceivable that it will not be possible to get to the bottom of this pretty quickly and that - due to the sensitivity of the area - that there will have been spy satellites all over the area. Even if they couldn't see the weaponry on the ground shoot it due to cloud cover, the plane would have been above the clouds and they would have got a good view of it being shot out of the sky. Similarly as clouds are not a constant, they would be able to lock on the area and spot the rocket launcher either before or after from going through footage and see who was controlling it.
Rather than fearing WW3, I am more hopeful that this will cause some banging of heads together at the UN and that these 298 lives will not have been lost in vain.
This is what needs to happen in an ideal world, but how much of the world is ideal? This is the main problem.
I still protest that Putin is not directly to blame with the crash (probably against the wishes of the DM and it's readers), and agree with the same on a general level, but this should have been sorted a long time ago.
Viva, I will PM you now.💙💛 💔0 -
My father was colourblind, but apparently I am not! 10/10.
The most common forms of colourblindness are caused by a defective gene or genes on the X chromosome. Since your dad clearly didn't give you his X chromosome, he couldn't pass on his colourblindness to you. Your sisters, if any, will be carriers, however, and their sons will have a 50/50 chance of being colourblind.
I got 10/10.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. (Link permitted by forum team)
Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -

Ah! Thanks for explaining. My two brothers aren't colour blind either. I did inherit my father's astigmatism. No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -

We're always on the brink of war. But it won't happen this time.“The ideas of debtor and creditor as to what constitutes a good time never coincide.”

With hindsight 'someone' should probably thought about the wisdom of flying over a war zone where surface to air missiles were being used. As a conspkyracy theorist you would look at the aids specialists on the plane and Russia's intolerance.......I think....0
