Thanks lemonjelly - and everyone else who replied. Quite embarrassed really
It's all true. And I don't have a problem with it. But I'm generally not beating myself up about it - a lot of it is tongue-in-cheek.I had a very red eye yesterday - I managed to squirt super-concentrated washing up liquid in my eyeSo I had to throw away a contact lens and spend a couple of hours looking out of one eye only :rotfl:
I wonder how many NP are glasses wearers?PN has made me laugh and smile plenty of times this weekend
Not sure about a beautiful laugh - I've been told I've got quite a dirty laugh. And they've got a faceIt's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0 -
Off to DS's graduation today, at least it will be cool inside Canterbury Cathedral! Queueing outside will be hot though. I'm going to take my deeply uncool sunhat - it's actually a man's hat; my head is too big for female hats. It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0

Those Council Tax people don't sit on their laurels .... I was going to back-register for council tax once my phone's working (tomorrow?) ... already received the bill from them
It's wrong though as I get the Pity Allowance of 25%
So there goes £800 once I've contacted them tomorrow.0 -

PN I am worried about this voluntary paying of tax you are not due.
I reckon I was within 10 minutes of winning the work football prediction competition last night. My colleague who has won got 1-0 and has protested the whole way through that she doesn't have a clue about football and mostly just guessed......I think....0 -

My car insurance has increased by £100.
Other than the change in area, & annual mileage going DOWN by a third, there have been no other changes. The annual charge is approaching the value of my car.
I feel ripped off with that kinda hike. It has increased by 25%.
Have tried looking at the comparison sites. The majority are around the same price. The cheaper policies (still higher than I paid last year mind) are all companies I've never heard of. Dunno why, but that makes me extra cautious. It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0 -
Hjd, that's wonderful! Have an amazing day!
Lemonjelly, you need to change your location on your profile thingy
Have a look for possible cashback on Quidco. I admit that I will look for the cheapest quote with a high Defaqto rating, not just cheap. You can check the companies and policies on the Defaqto website. Some of the ones you haven't heard of may be underwritten by someone decent, it might be worth asking them.
I used to wear glasses, I was lasered 9 years ago.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

Have a wonderful day - and congratulations to DS! Sister #1 went to uni in Canterbury, and loved it there.
I have a huge head, too. So do both my sons, and all my siblings - Danny's head was measured at the paediatric clinic on Friday, and is on the 98th centile for boys.lemonjelly wrote: »Was just worried about it becoming a self fulfilling prophecy.
Hope your eye is ok. I've never tried contact lenses. I quite like the being able to take glasses off when I want/need to.

I should probably wear mine quite a lot, but only wear them for driving - that way I can't lose them and be unable to drive safely....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -
I saw Butler-Sloss has turned down the enquiry job after all - good move. Not because there's anything wrong with her in herself, but the workload and stress for an 80 year old would have been huge. And the risks of her becoming ill or unable to continue were pretty high too, I'd have thought!...much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0
