I nodded off... just woken up :)

I'll blame the last of that sparkling wine on that ... I was hot and thirsty when I came in and it was cold, so I drank it. Still tired... think I'll have another snooze....

I nodded off on the sofa when I got in from work. Anyone would think I'd not been away for a seaside holiday this weekend :D

You're probably tired from a) the eventful past few weeks and b) not sleeping well getting used to your new gaff/ having some weirdo camping in your spare room for a couple of nights :) Did you sleep better last night?

One curtain up .... it looks OK

Is it one of the ones you acquired over the weekend? Which room has it gone up in?

Got a good letter this week.
Having made 2 overpayments, & 1 mortgage payment, the mortgage is now under £100k.
    Step 1 taken....

Forgot to reply to this yesterday. On Friday I overpaid £10.40 (some cashback which I'd got paid out) :)

It's all about the baby steps here!

    Yes, a little.

There is a crescendo that builds when you get a house .... and then so much unusual activity .... and it's overwhelming and disorientating. Most odd. You'd think it was just a question of: pack, unpack, sleep in a different room ... get on with life as usual :)

Yes, one of a pair of green/yellow ones... living room, right hand side. Once the top tape had been released/straightened, I believe the two curtains will meet in the middle and still have an air of a "gather" about them....

They'll be big enough to meet? Excellent stuff. Anyone would think it was meant to be :)

Yet another terrible display of decision making & judgement by our dave!

I'm beginning to wonder if we will ever have an impressive prime minister ever again. It's not as if the alternatives are any more inspiring at the moment; statesmen they are not. Perhaps this is just a blip...but when you look down the ranks on both sides of parliament, I'm not sure that it is...

I finally got to "overpay" today. The bank managed to give us a repayment mortgage instead of an offset by accident and it has taken a month to sort out, but now it's all linked up and now we're arguing about retrospective interest calculations instead of the previous argument about how I hadn't applied for an offset which basically turned into a drawn out Punch and Judy style argument...

What's your missus been spending your money on chewy? Curtains and cushions...? Trust me, don't try to find the receipts.... even cheap curtains have lots of 000000s on the end of the price!! And I bet she's gone for ones she likes, not looking at the price :)

We set a budget for every room and a total budget that can't be exceeded which is going ok at the moment, mostly due to a wild over budgeting for a BBQ which I was convinced would cost north of £1,000, which in hindsight was ludicrous, but which has given us a large contingency pot!

On the curtain front we haven't bought any yet. We have been given a load of old ones by my parents, my parent's neighbour and my dad's sister, so we are covered for now. Eventually she will want to get some decent ones but at the moment there still aren't any curtain rails downstairs so that needs sorting first.

In our bedroom we have some monstrous 70s curtains with a lot of orange and black in them. I think my parents may have had them in the lounge about 35 years ago! I'll post a picture of them when I get home if I remember.

At the moment out most expensive purchase is a mattress. We are arguing about whether we need a new sofa - I don't want to buy one cos we spent £1,500 on the current one about 4 years ago. She says it doesn't match the living room. I think I will lose.
