At the wedding we attended there last year, the bar tariff showed prices a lot higher than the ones detailed in that menu pack. It is a gorgeous building though.0 -
If your looking at Manchester Town Hall then its well worth checking out the Freemason's Hall on Bridge Street in Manchester (also known as East Lancs Masonic Hall). It has much of the same feel - grand, marble floors etc but is far cheaper!
Don't be put off by the pictures on the website of the outside the main hall is stunning & there are 2 large suites.0 -
We have just booked the Lee Wood in Buxton. Can also suggest the Three Horseshoes Inn at Blackshaw Moor - they do 10% discounts on a Friday and Sunday and they have really nice rooms for people to stay over!
Make a weekend of it in the Peak District!0 -

No idea how expensive it is, but Muncaster Castle near Ravenglass in Cumbria is lovely - some friends of ours were married there a few years ago...

Hi,
I've just started looking at venues for my wedding for Nov 2008. Was going to get married this November but something got in the way so had to cancel. Luckily I hadn't done much yet!
I've looked at Cottons Spa in Knutsford which from the internet pictures I've fallen in love with. I'm hoping to arrange a visit there next week. Does anyone have any experience of the place?
The prices seemed reasonable especially as they have discounts for festive weddings.
It is the indoor courtyard I have fallen in love with. My theme is "Fairytale in New York" (which I didn't come up with myself - taken from a themed xmas party brochure but explains exactly what I imagine it to be!).
The other place I'm considering is the Belle Epoque in Knutsford if anyone has any experience of it. One of the rooms is a lovely rich purple colour which again fits into my image of what I want my wedding to be.0 -
Dont know whether or not its already been mentioned but the Castle Green Hotel at Kendal is really nice. Or another option the Lancaster House HotelWeight Loss - 102lb0

Thanks all you lovely people for your blogs.
I've been into Lancaster House, wasn't for us. No outdoor garden and the function rooms didn't have windows. I've got the brochure for Castle Green but not had the chance to visit it.
I've been to Belle Epoque, it looked fab, couldn't get in as there was a wedding happening. I loved the look of it and it seemed really cute and cosy. It's on the smallest road i've ever seen and no parking so really impractical for us and our guests.
I've asked Stapley Gardens twice for their brochures over the past few months but still haven't got one!
If anyone has any pictures of the venues, would you be kind enough to private email them to me.
