Middle Lane Hoggers - I hate them!

Other countries have a "no lorry overtaking" sign in regular use - we should get that.0
;65885335]Steady on, it's not like they're stealing your first born child!
I don't find them that annoying, far less annoying than the idiots in BMWs who come up behind you in the fast lane when you're going the same speed as the cars in front of you but leaving a sensible safety distance between yourself and the car in front. When I let them past they get about 30 metres further ahead and start harassing the next driver.
With middle lane hogs, at least you can get past them by going in the FAST lane - it's not rocket science.
I have to be honest, this has become a lot less of a problem nowadays. I spend a lot of time of dual carriageways, and both lanes seem to progress at their own pace, trucks pull out and pull back in again, BMW's hang back until there is a big enough space on the left to pull back into if the car in front of me does pull away. Seems the more traffic, the more people realise it's pointless nowadays.0 -
This would mean that any vehicle going below 56mph would end up getting tailgated by HGVs who could not legally overtake, which would create more danger than it would solve.
That is exactly what happens down here in Kent, with the two lane M2. I don't know what is worse - the lorry drivers taking a mile to overtake another lorry, or the annoying person who decides to pull out and overtake the lorries, when they are doing 60MPH:mad:
Why do some people not increase their speed when overtaking, and why do some of them sit behind a lorry for ages, and then pull out (usually without indicating) on me just as I am about to come past at 70MPH (other speeds may be applicable:D).0 -

As a former HGV-driver acquaintance once told me ... "If I'm going 0.5 mph faster than the next guy, I'm going for the overtake".0

I thought the feds were supposed to be ramping up and fining these idiots?Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..0

Went to north wales and back last week, i live in Devon. The amount of hoggers was unbelievable, when i overtook and went to lane 1, i was amazed that they realised they could also do that.0

Yep, and it's worse still on a 2 lane M'way or a dual carriageway A road like the A1, where a 5 mile overtake is often followed a couple of minutes later by another 5 mile overtake.
Thiis happens often enough on the A1 that I won't use it at certain parts of the day. I'll only go up that way when traffic is sparse, and will take the longer M1 route up North if I have no choice but to go at a busy time.
I understand that the people being overtaken will use a tiny bit more fuel if they coast to drop speed off and let them in, and then have to accelerate again, but it really isn't much, and would make everyone else's journey much more pleasant.0 -

Unless they can get a camera to do it, it ain't gonna happen.0 -
I quite often find the worse middle lane hoggers are the ones that want simply to overtake the slower middle lane hoggers. I had one yesterday, on an urban dual carriageway. I'm in the outside lane, approaching a set of lights. Clear on my left. I'm in the outside lane as just over the lights is a filter right for the next lights. So, then I'm being tailgated, by someone who then undertakes me through the lights, and then pulls back into the outside lane, and carries straight on. So it's a problem if I'm in the outside lane, on a clear road, ready to turn right a short distance away, but they can't see the irony of them doing exactly the same thing, and then continuing to drive on the outside lane of a clear road.0
