Middle Lane Hoggers - I hate them!

Most middle lane hoggers are put off being in lane one because, when they want to pass the HGV they are slowly catching up to, they get stuck in lane one because of the ignorant 80+mph drivers boring down in lane two who fail to recognise or consider that the car in lane one may wish to move into lane two. They are generally the more timid driver who is frightened by the aggression of such a driver, so they find that sticking in lane two minimises that conflict.
The solution is for all quicker drivers to assist these more passive drivers by accommodating their move from lane one to lane two without fuss. This will make the more passive driver more comfortable about sitting in lane one, if he can easily pull into lane two when needed without the (perceived) threat of conflict or aggression.
Entirely correct,

My sister-in-law drives across the Severn Bridge in the middle lane, regardless of other traffic.
She is afraid of heights. Seriously.

You are so completely wrong and confused.
Everyone knows that lane 1 is called the slow lane and is meant for trucks and caravans only so you keep out of that lane.
Lane 3 is called the fast lane and is for very important people in a hurry, so you keep out of that lane too.
That only leaves the middle lane - so there is nowhere else to go - innit.
You only go left at the very last moment possible to dive down an exit lane. Very tricky as you need to go between trucks and caravans.
Motorways are very scary and dangerous places.
You should know this.
Slight exception to your rules. M5 in school holidays times the "FAST" lane is for stolen caravans and those that think their 4x4 has been blessed by St. Christopher himself.
Unfortunately St. Christopher knew little about snakes and armco barriers.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
Personally I think the main issue is HGV's overtaking each other at only 1mph more than the thing they are overtaking.
HGV's should have to legally stay in the inside lane during daylight hours (as long as the lane is open of course), it will be much safer, and will stop !!!!ing off people when they keep pulling in and out but making no progress whatsoever.0 -

This would mean that any vehicle going below 56mph would end up getting tailgated by HGVs who could not legally overtake, which would create more danger than it would solve.0 -
Maybe if the government hadn't spent billions making 3 (or more) lane motorways, we wouldn't have the problem! After all, a middle lane hogger turns a 3 lane motorway into a two lane motorway.
In my opinion, they should be dealt with more severely than someone going 20mph (safely) over the speed limit.PLEASE NOTEMy advice should be used as guidance only. You should always obtain face to face professional advice before taking any action.0 -
Never had a problem with lane hogs. Can see why it would infuriate an HGV driver though.0

And coaches who can do slightly more than an HGV but cannot use lane 3.
If you have never had a problem with middle lane hoggers (or as I prefer to call them incompetent motorway drivers), then you obviously don't use motorways very often.PLEASE NOTEMy advice should be used as guidance only.
