Hello OSers *waving*
Hope everyone feels peachy keen jelly bean today - hugs to those who want/need them xxx
Nothing too OS to report today apart from I had a mini revelation last night whilst emptying my bins - PLASTIC SUCKS! I recycle paper, card, glass, tins, plastic bottles, foil, most waste goes into compost, clothes are rags or charity shopped - so what does this leave me with in my rubbish bin?
Plastic. Plastic wrapping. Loads of it.
I understand how hard it is to collect and recycle this efficiently on a large scale, I understand it's the cheapest and most efficient way to wrap most things but argh, it takes thousands of years to break down, it uses far too many fossil fuels to produce and I hate that I am only now becoming aware of it, I feel like I have been plastic blind. And it's making me garumph.
Ohhhhhh, I just had a little rantplease 'scuse me, must be the new pills LOL
Off to do a bit of shopping - with a list! LOL - on my lunch, Nipper wants to make XDH a cake for his birthday tonight

Afternoon all
Blowing a hooley and doing the fine drizzly misty rain that soaks you through in seconds here....Yuck!
DD1 has gone off to her new school for the day today - she was so nervous bless her. We've got a parents meeting there at 2pm and get to collect her uniform so no doubt we'll be treated to a fashion show tonight whilst she shows it all off.
DH is home for a long weekend so we popped into town for a cheeky cooked breakfast this morning, managed to pick up a couple of chirstmas pressies for DD's too (in woolies sale). We're off to see Harry Potter tomorrow afternoon, I'm looking forward to it.
A weekend of DIY planned - bathroom ceiling needs painting, master bedroom needs a few touch ups and I'm going to paint a feature wall and some canvases to liven it up a bit.
DH is currently playing with an old pc, getting it cleared and ready to sell, it's been sitting in the loft for ages but it's time it went.
HM burgers and salad for tea - followed by cherry crumble (if I can be bothered to stone the cherries) or raspberry and apple crumble if I'm lazy.:D
Hugs to all in need.

Just had word that the issue holding our house purchase has been sorted yey. Its only a shared ownship....but its miles better than where we are at the moment. Potentially the place could be ours in a few weeks. There is light at the end of the tunnel afterall.
This afternoon I've got someone coming to talk about carpets. I've been round the big chains, and a couple of local shops. This guy is the 'man with a van' type. But a number of people have sung his praises, so if he can do us a decent deal I'm sure I can count on him.
Yesterday I took a trip to my locan denby factory shop. Picked up some cereal bowls in my pattern. When we move in I want to ditch the old stuff (cheap and nasty) and get using the nice stuff. Problem is I only had 2 cereal bowls in the nice stuff. Which may have posed a problem.
Little one is doing fine. She's started to sleep until 9am....which is nice for my peaceful mornings. But not so good when it comes to getting to the parent and toddler group. It was the last session of the term today and I missed it cos she was still having her breakfast when it started.
Keep thinking about making some bread....but people keep buying it from the supermarket, so feel like its a waste. Things will be different when we get in our own little place.
Have already built up a little freezer stash. And my Dad offered me some blackcurrants...if I wanted to go and pick them. Mum later suggested that we could go together and she would watch the pain (aka the baby) whilst I picked to my hearts content. Yum...blackcurrant crumble
Must go and sort the place ready for the carpet man...and baby just woke.
Hugs to those that need them.Baby Year 1: Oh dear...on the move

Hi everyone!
It's been a while since I've posted on the daily thread but hugs to all those who need them.
Not a lot of OS happening today really except I've hoovered the house through. I'm leaving work at 4pm today, having a quick whizz round the small person's school and they've got an open day, home for a quick snackette and then back here for the late evening. My bosses are away so have been rushing around like a scalded cat this last week!
I too am a Jodi Picoult fan. I've just finished Keeping Faith and Tenth Circle. However, am back with The Philosopher's Stone again as want to have reread all the HP books before reading the last one. It comes out the day before my Mum's birthday and I've promised her a copy for her birthday...the thing is will I be able to hand it over. I have a very strong feeling that I will emerge also with a copy for myself. I'm such a kid...can't wait for it!
Am also looking forward to seeing the Rotten Romans show down in Worthing in a few weeks [from the Horrible Histories..another fave of mine oooh so sophisticated me!!]. Aren't kids just the best excuse for seeing all these things:D
Small person is very chuffed today as OH picked up a big tin of Meccano from a freecycler for him. It keeps him busy for hours...here I am swapping my clutter for somebody elses again...I had just got rid of 5 items. Not quite got the hang of this freecycle lark sometimes methinks.
Must dash as lunchbreak as expired...however, good news for OH. He got offered a place in a very important dollshouse show. We've waited over 2 years for a place to come up and so are absolutely dead chuffed. Even if it does mean that he'll be away on my birthday:mad:
HAve a groovy Thursday

Afternoon to everyone!
CSARINA - great to have you back - I've missed you!
Well, DGD has had her lunch and her mum has just picked her up so I SHOULD be doing the paperwork I've been droning on about for days but - well, I had to pop in here first, didn't I?
Weather is quite gloomy but hasn't rained - yet- so my washing is drying nicely which will make for an even bigger pile of ironing for the weekend! I have got some paperwork done and I bought some new files and dividers but, as yet, they're still in their packets.
I had a free sample in the post of Silkies anti-ageing, anti-wrinkle moisturiser which they say works within a month! They've sent me a month's supply for free - I'll let you know if it works!! I also need to colour my hair again - the grey has broken through the barrier again!
Some of you yesterday were talking about Iceland - well, friends of DS1 and DIL1 are getting married next Easter in Iceland so they are all going! The grandchildren are thrilled except DGS is a bit worried because he's read that they have active volcanoes there; we'll have to convince him that they don't erupt all the time. Anyway, Iceland sounds a really unusual choice for a wedding but, apparently, the couple went there on holiday a couple of years ago and fell in love with the place.
Well, going to go now and resist the urge to lie down on the sofa for a snooze; do you know, I think I'm going to .....I'll be more productive after a nap!
See you all later.

(((Hugs))) PP Sounds very sore! Just got back from visiting my friend who is avoiding all that now as she has a hickman (sp?) line so injections go straight into there!
I went to the charity shop earlier - took 2 bags of stuff and came back with 1;) pleased with the bargains though. One is a lovely christmas glass tea light holder that matches one I already have 25p, a beautiful pastel rainbow coloured quilted cushion cover £1, a glass dressing table set, all the pieces sold separately but totalling £2.50 these date back to the 40's I think and are very heavy but I love them and have been eyeing them on ebay but this was much cheaper, an olive dish £1.50 and matches my car boot bargain of a lifetime poole pottery dinnerservice (cost £3 a couple of years ago), cream pottery butter dish for 75p and a butterfly shaped tricket box for 60p.
After reading posts about Jodi Picoult I wandered into dd's bedroom and found "The Pact" so will borrow that and settle down for a read later.
Off for a nap now as pacing has gone out of the window today!

Arghhhhh only gone and joined a GYM:eek:    have spent a lot of time looking at them the pros and cons the good ones and not so good ones ,, some are so posy and felt quite intimidating and cost a fortune but the one ive joined with the family is so relaxing and friendly that i thought why not give it a go,, need to help tone up with the weight loss so this is a way to do it and these gyms nowadays you can take headphones and watch telly whilst exercising, if im going to sit on my rear at home and watch telly might as well do it and get some exercise at the same time..
Wish me luck
