Good morning all. Overslept a little this morning after a bad night. Yesterday I gardened (quite a lot), went to knitting group, came home and had a Nana nap (the first for about 18 months as been unable to sleep in day!), OH made us a healthy chicken salad and then I managed a 8.57 mile cycle ride (using the power assist a lot less). Result one satisfied MM, but with joints (ankles knee and hands) that were screaming in pain:eek: At 5am I could stand it no more and got up and covered all offending areas in Magnesium oil, it worked so quickly and after an hour I was, at last, fast asleep.

PT this morning so more pain, but hopefully plenty of gain. Rain due lunch time for about 4 days, but think I need to be sensible and leave the garden alone for now.

So, in a be grateful for what I can do frame of mind, not bemoan what I cannot, I had better feed, wash and dress myself and get on with it:D

Have a good day, hugs to all that need them.

LL thinking of you and your hubby, hope he gets over this soon.

Have walked 12 miles today getting chores done while the car had her MOT, and been to yoga. So I'm feeling very virtuous, and very tired but in a good way. Also making plans with DD to eat more healthily - we're both a bit lazy about cooking after work but also aware we need to make the effort, so a new leaf will be turned, a menu concocted, a list written, and veg bought. I hope!
    Hugs to all

hi guys, I'm so sorry to hear, LL. re fabbing, I won my 1st competition yesterday with 200 pounds worth of hair products and tablets for healthy hair :) I'm so chuffed I won something and my hair isn't great after having sepsis and being so seriously ill the last 3 yrs so this is just what I need to get thicker shiny hair!
Many thanks to all who contribute on MSE :)
  • LL, just to add my thoughts and best wishes to the others. I hope your OH is as peaceful and comfortable as he can be.

I think yesterday I took a big step back with the fabbing; I left my last partner because he was emotionally abusive and used to reduce me to a quivering wreck with his bullying rants. If anything went wrong in another aspect of his life, it was me that bore the brunt of it. It took me about 3 1/2 years before I realised that actually I wasn't that bad a person and life didn't have to be like that, and left him.

Three years on, I've been with a new partner for about 18 months, generally all going ok. Last night however he had a big long rant at me for not doing enough to support him in his weight loss efforts, all because I'd asked him if there was anything he wanted from the supermarket. Not offered to buy/ cook food specifically - just was there anything he wanted! Since then I've been back to shaking and crying; to be fair on OH, he has no idea what effect this has had on me, but he's been a bit perplexed that I was so quiet yesterday evening. I have no idea now what else I do wrong that he hasn't ranted about (so far) and therefore what I'll get shouted at for in the future.

I don't know if anyone has any ideas for how I can get back a bit of confidence even to raise the subject with him? Like I say, he would probably be horrified if he realised that I was putting him in the same bracket as my ex, but I can't help worrying that he might be.

In better news, I finally got paid and have bought a voucher for getting my hair done, so will be treating myself to that on August 13th after my pre op appointment at the hospital! It's 5 months since I last had my hair done, can't wait :-)

Rosy - I am in awe of your 12 miles, that would really keep my Fitbit happy!!
Finally debt free!! March 2018 :j

Rubyslippers, why not write him a letter explaining what has happened in your past, and how his outburst made you feel? Give it to him and then go out for a couple of hours, so he can read & understand what you are telling him.

Hi ruby. I'd be surprised if this is just about what to buy at the shops. He's probably stressed/upset about either his own failure to lose weight or something completely different. What does the song say? You always hurt the ones you love?

When you said you were offering to shop but not cook, does that mean you don't live together?

I think it's early days to start worrying that he might turn out like your ex.

I was going to suggest you cook a healthy but delicious meal and then after a few drinks start talking about last night. I'd take it as face value to start with: 'I was a bit taken aback/upset when you said about me sabotaging your diet. But I'm over it now so how shall we play it moving forward, I don't want to feel like that again.' Then you have a conversation about what he plans to do about losing weight and how you can help (hopefully with an apology thrown in from him). If it feels right ask him if that's all it was as his reaction was so untypical. he might tell you without asking.

That's the way I'd play it but you know best.

    Good luck.

P.S. Your hair appointment is on my wedding anniversary.:)
  • Ruby does your OH know about your past with your ex? If not then I think you definitely need to talk to him about it. He may not realise how things like that affect you. Regardless, I think you should calmly talk to him about how it made you feel. Sometimes people say things they don't mean, and get worked about things that they shouldn't and don't realise how they act may affect those they love.

    Morning all,

floss I was also going to suggest writing a letter, hope you can move forward ruby
Lost of cleaning and washing here today, but then I get to work on my room which is exciting. I'm hoping to have a day bed with lots of cushions to recline on:rotfl: but also a pretty desk with my new Filofax and home journal. Being organised makes me feel good.
Also our saving is going well. We are off to Australia in November to meet our new granddaughter which is very exciting.:j
Looking forward to a quiet evening with hubby watching a movie.
Have a fab day whatever your doing x

So sorry LL about your OH. Sounds like he is well loved and cared for by all who know him which must be a comfort to you all. Sending love and hugs to all of you. I am thinking of you.

Bitsy hope you are having/have had a good hol, how awful for your OH to be made redundant out of the blue. It's tough out there but I hope he finds something soon.

Been feeling a bit blergh... don't really know why..maybe because it's the school hols and mealtimes are all over the place? I feel bloated even though not eating any more than normal really. May be the heat as it is getting to me, i feel hot when it's not IYSWIM- it's my age you know.:rotfl:

Thinking of getting a sewing machine as due to losing weight many of my clothes don't fit and thought altering the things I like might be a cheaper option than replacing everything. I have bought things from ebay but tbh they haven't always been useful. It would only be second hand/cheap and i could then make things for the house etc.

Went to the coast with DS3 and DD2 we enjoyed it but they don't really want to be going too many places with me now they are growing up so don't know how many more places we'll go over the hols. I may just go off on my own if I can pluck up the courage...
