If you work for a company that participates in Microsoft's home user programme you can get office 2007 for £18 odd. Wife works for NHS so we got a full office 2007 for £18 odd - at no cost to NHS.

Have heard of people ordering from dell and after receiving PCs phone up and ask to return under DSR, Dell usually offer a 10% refund if you keep the PC. Not that I condone the practice, up to the individual I guess.

Just a cost to her in the years to come when she tries to open her documents and can't any more. ;)

but after the end of the year XP won't be supported, rock and hardplace

Indeed. Sara, you're getting mixed up between support dates and supply dates. MS tried to brow-beat PC makers at Vista's launch into providing Vista only. Customer rebellions have made Dell (and I presume others) do a U-turn and start to provide XP again. MS says it won't supply XP after the end of the year. We'll just have to see how that pans out. All of this is good news for Linux, of course.

  • If you sign up for an Orange basic broadband package, you can get a free laptop instore, or £300 off a better laptop.
