LATEST DELL DEAL Great Laptop £292 Delivered !

Official MSE Insert:

It's possible to get a well-specced 2GHZ Dell laptop for £292, by forfeiting the the extended warranty. This takes £92 off the price, but obviously also means you'll have to pay (often a fair whack) if the laptop goes wrong after a year's time.

To get the laptop at the best price, click on mjr600's link below, then scroll down the page and change the warranty option from three years' cover to one year's. The price at the top of the page should now be £292.

If you don't plan to be constantly connected to the mains it'll be worth upgrading your battery to at least a 6 cell model. This upgrade is good value at £11.75, especially compared with the price you'd pay for the battery separately.

Thanks to mjr600 for posting this.

Perfect general use laptop at a bargain price; you may wish to add the 6 cell battery for regular mains free use.

15.4" Widescreen
1 gig ram
120 gig HD
ATI Radeon® Xpress 1150 HyperMemory Video
WiFi

With a further Quidco discount it's down to £279 !!

There isn't a better deal out there.

Adjust the warranty to get the best price.

I should add this is a brand new model only released onto the market this month.

Does anyone know how the AMD sempron 3500 stacks up against the AMD Athlon 64x2

I assume the fact that it says x 2 means that it is dual core. It is an additional £35. Do you think there would be a substantial difference in performance by upgrading?

Yes - its a balancing act isn't it - price vs performance. £35 doesn't seem that much if the performance improvement is substantial.

On the other hand, to add a turion 64 x 2 would add £105 and makes it seem less good economically.

I am assuming that if I ring them they will be able to swap vista for xp. Hope so.

It seems too new to have much in the way of reviews, as far as I have found but I think it is comparable to the inspiron 1501. However, the price of this seems to be about £100 cheaper than a similar spec 1501.

If anyone has any words of warning etc about this laptop, then please comment - otherwise I think I am going to order one tomorrow.

If taken literally, vostro is Latin for "yours". In the Dell context, it's their new model branding.
