Ok so I'm new to this mainland lark and with various offers on home delivery of grub thought I'd give it a bash.

However, I have to say half the value things I normally buy don't appear to be on the list for buying.

    Wassat all about then?

Sugar is also cheaper in Aldi.
As are tinned veg (corn) and tinned tomatoes

Never had an online shopping delivery before (but have a £15/off voucher)

Might get a selective shop, but not it seems including fizzy water for his cordial.

Lifes a bit of a lesson eh?

I think it depends on which store you would normally get your stuff picked from, but I honestly don't know.

I spend so little on food normally it's not worth me getting a delivery :rotfl: I'm attempting a budget of £130 this month, so expect a lot of chat on my diary about good recipes for gruel :D

    Thanks Mooomin

My regular store is 300 miles away :)

I've managed to negotiate it anyhows got £16.43 off me shopping and have now got a storecupboard to bludgeon in somehow.

    £86.01 actually spent

Which is a huge amount but its hopefully all the dug fud, toiletries, storecupboard stuff and the 'value' stuff we normally buy.

Just fresh fruit/veg/fish/meat and reduced bread to buy (or make....?)

Which sounds alot when you say it like that.

But I guess this is the first store cupboard.

Delivered for £1 (cheaper than me petrol) tomorrow.

    First time try we'll see.

Worked out the monthly amounts and added a bit so I'm sure we'll be overflowed in the store cupboard.

I'm putting together me stripey-socks-shop again.

I did like that and it saved us loads.

Use to have a huge 6 month store cupboard in the garage bought on the mainland.

    :D

We called it the 'stripeysocksshop' and 'popped' out for stuff when we needed.

Saved a heap of 'unplanned' spends. I'll not keep 6 months worth but a good healthy store is a grand plan I think. Seemed to work for me and stop the impulse buying.

    My new sofa is here.

Correction OUR new sofa is here and its epic.

    :D

there's a feeding frenzy of packaging going on though in the living room

Sofa (bed) from a large supermarkets direct site.
Ordered sunday with £200 plus extra discount (thanks handy chum) off
Delivered, unwrapped, unfooted and popped into cosy cottage living room and demonstrated after refooted.

I cant' actually touch the sides.

Its a bit mse as its reduced and also from house money not any credit as we've been careful with plumbers etc TRG released the funds for it, he's a canny but good sort.

Must review list done loads today :)

  • Wow, love the sofa, it's stunning. I want one now but no way will it fit in my tiny bungalow so that's that then....

Re list: It makes me tired just reading it, Pips. I've done about half the ironing and 'needed' to sit down. That's why I happen to be on here....I'm sticking to my story....:D

Great stuff on the egg front. I'm sure it will take the Rainbow Crowd a wee while to settle and get back to full-on laying. They are sure to be a bit discombobulated after their move.

    Have a lovely day x
