How many you getting?
Will you eventually get an Einstein again? or are these not going to be quite so free roaming?
All sounding good in the land of Stripes
Greying
The long term plan is to sadly rid ourselves of the large laburnum at the back of the garden (its lovely but toxic to chooks) and to clear the bark mulch (full of seeds) from that area. Then replant with fruit trees. Then add chooks under them. The area is right by the back of the village so might think about a cockeral equiv to Einstein maybe a bantam, cos the 'big yin' (Einstein) was huge and a bit scary if I'm honest. They'll mainly be under a largish patch of fruit trees but when settled and happy, they'll get out for a walk everyday round the garden (maybe the village?) like the neighbours hens do.
So I'm busily lifting bark and putting in gates to keep the doglets in one area and the hens safe in the garden proper in the future when they fancy a jaunt round me borders. I like the idea of them exploring. There's a whole 'wild' lane at the back of the house, they might like an explore out there too
I'll consult Scarlet.
Hope all's well in your lands this week have a good un!
The vale of stripes or the Shire as DS refers to it, is a happy one, but it still feels like holidays. Must start to focus a bit more on long term life, but I'm besotted with the garden, so I'm trying so hard to focus a wee bit.
Money this month seems to have gone OK despite large spends. Bit of money left from wellyfest to get a garden table and a sofa bed then we're done I think.

...and in my own personal dictionary...
besotted = focused
...maybe it's good not to loose your besottedness, just shift it temporarily away from your lovely outdoorsy area?
Off to make a large bowl of tabbouleh so it can marinate for a BBQ tomorrow. (Across the pond we celebrate our national day tomorrow!) Very lucky to have a friend from over there who has a house over here that is larger than a postage stamp - she'll be hosting the event! We were both a bit cheeky and took Mon & Tues as holidays!:D
Also going to investigate a recipe for flatbreads made with cheese (quark actually) as much stuff in the fridge needs using up after our weekend away at family funeral "up-Norf".

Pips are you telling me that not everyone makes this when they have too much parsley & an abundance of tomatoes???;):D (I add a minced garlic clove, grated carrots & sometimes cooked chickpeas and dice deseeded cucumber...I guess my version is not very 'traditional' lol...)Pippilongstocking wrote: »...Radish...Carrots...MUST do a meal plan...
t'other night OH made an amazing salad with grated radishes & carrots, marinated in a hot vinegar & sugar sauce then drained...funny bit is he does not eat salad, dislikes radishes, avoids carrots & never ever puts vinegar on anything! - the salad was amazing & we both had second helpings...
Meal plan - oh yes - knew there was something I'd forgotten to do - Off to get my !!!! together!4 YEARS 10 MONTHS DEBT FREE!!! HM flat breads and fajhitas for tonight - quite busy so can't think past today
and DS is a bit bemused by homemade flat breads so I'm going to teach him.
Did my good MSE deed for today - introduced a chum to MSE and told her how lovely we all are
RT - never had that but it sounds yum. Laughing at the salad that shouldn't have been loved but wasgoes off to look at vinegar and carrots etc - thanks!
So I might put my food budget to the 'housekeeping' figure of £165 and wee how we go this month.
DS is here too and we've visitors throughout the month.
