  • Hej Hej!

Pips, sorry I have been absent - I know that you have been having a hard-time of it.

I echo what your other pals have been saying; the person with the 'WOULD YOU PURLEASE PRONOUNCE MY NAME CORRECTLY' attitude needs to get a grip on what is really important in life.... And I know that, 'it's their problem, not anything that you have done' is actually the answer to all this, but I also know that there are sometimes when that just doesn't wash. And we all end up curled up in a ball. You've been shouted at unjustly and it just isn't fair. End of.

I'm amazed that I don't upset more people, with my tendency to 'shorten' names - names, nicknames or user-names. I have, thus far, only been picked up on it once, and that person has, ever since, been known as, 'Dave, call me David' at Greying Towers. Thankfully, our paths rarely cross (it was only in a social context anyway) so it doesn't matter, and frankly, his problems are a lot worse than me calling him Dave.........

Keep going, keep doing and keep being. The Stripey Gang are here to cheer you along the way :D

    Xmas Saver!
seems a day for funerals, I went to one as well, a really close friend lost her husband, he was only 60, it was so nice at the crem they had a tv screen and did a selection of photos from as a baby through the times, tears started with one photo, it was i'd taken of them.

I'd originally met them in Tunisia 15 yrs ago, they were on the next dinner table to me, and we stayed friends, had a lot of hols over the yr, all the family were coming up your the holiday lady.

They both became adopted aunty and uncle to dd, like losing a family member.. hope everything went ok for you xxx
xx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx

aw ((((((((())))))))))) lots of hugs required in here xxxxxx

I agree there's perfectly nice ways of correcting people if they get your name wrong! Mr Cheery's name often gets shortened by people who don't know him - he HATES it, really hates it, but rarely mentions it (i quite often have a quiet word with people though if we're going to see them more than once - hardly the crime of the century but i wouldn't want o be constantly callig someone a name that annoyed them). However neither of us has EVER been vile to anyone about it, there's plenty of ways of aaying it nicely! xx

Ha ha - Cheery Daff - you have just made me think. This 'Dave' to which I refer, grabbed me around the scruff of my jacket one time and because he was on a chair that was falling away, he kept gripping and ended up snapping the necklace I was wearing - DP had given it me, the first Christmas we were together. DP was livid, and if he'd been there at the time........ However, perhaps 'Dave' really, really preferred to be called 'David' at all times :rotfl:(that wasn't why he grabbed my coat collar - he was just being a *silly thing*.......)

Good Morning Pippilongstocking and  to the stripey gang

  • Morning all,

So sorry to hear of all the losses, we know exactly what that's like, big hugs to you all.

Very wet here this morning, just the sort of day to stay at home and light the fire, don't feel at all like braving the weather to take DD to school! Did think of running her up in the car, but the trafic situation means it would take 2 minutes to get there but 20 minutes to get back!
