Free Sky Broadband for two years when you activate Sky Sports 5

I see its now being reported on the Sky forums that SS5 has been deactivated for some and they need to contact Sky to re-activate it. A double PR disaster, and no need for it either. Poor.0

Please be aware if you accept sky sports 5 for free and free unlimited broadband for 24 months there is no cooling off period you are entering a new contract for 18 months.0

Only if you take the offer of free broadband are you entered into a new minimum term. "Activating" Sky Sports 5 (which is not free, it's part of the Sky Sports subscription) will not mean a new contract.bigjohnjoe wrote: »Please be aware if you accept sky sports 5 for free and free unlimited broadband for 24 months there is no cooling off period you are entering a new contract for 18 months.
No one needs to "activate" Sky Sports 5 anyhow. It's always viewable.0 -

They have been de-activating the channel in small user increments, forcing users to activate it via telephone if they want to keep it. There are many complaints about this on other forums.0 -
Well, I'm still not deactivated. It just shows a small icon for a short time on tuning to the channel. They have been de-activating the channel in small user increments, forcing users to activate it via telephone if they want to keep it. There are many complaints about this on other forums.
If the channel is eventually deactivated, I'm of a mind to cancel Sky Sports just for the hell of it…0 -

It seems to be random, though you may want to read page 2 of the thread as well.0 -
Unfortunately, DigitalSpy forums seem as confused as anyone about the whole debacle. All I know is that I currently have the channel without any "activation". That thread is the first I've seen where anyone reports losing the channel and one poster even seems to think the new software update will end his ability to tune into Sky Sports 5!!!For completeness, heres one of the threads -

I'm extremely irritated by Sky's seeming insistence that the channel be "activated" and I'm only going to be forced into doing so under sufferance.0
