Considering I have sky sports, talk, line rental and fiber optic broadband would I be just locked into a 2 year contract with having to pay full price for the fiber optic ? I'm going to jump ship to bt when they have the champions league so obviously don't want to be tied into another 12 months with sky

If you do nothing Cese25 you'll get the channel anyway. I don't know what the deal is for current fibre optic users, so you would need to ring them and ask.

How do you know this? I have not been able to find it stated anywhere on the Sky web-site. The link to activate Sky Sports 5 now says "Activate Sky Sports 5 and sign up for 2 years free broadband".
I positively do NOT want Sky Broadband or their Line Rental; I just want to add Sky Sports 5 to my existing Sky Sports subscription.

Then just ring them up and add it. The BB offer isn't a requirement to get the channel.

    Go to
    https://buy.sky.com/offers-upgrades/
And if you scroll down there's an option to activate Sky 5 without the Broadband.
You will get 12 months tacked onto your contract though.
You won't get Sky 5 without activating this through the web and extending the contract, as far as I'm aware.

Thanks. I suspected this was the catch. I do not want to have 12 months tacked on to my contract. I think I can live without Sky Sports 5.

I've just had a lengthy chat with a sky rep via the on line chat option, I got confirmation that I could sign up without extending my contact or affecting my 60% discount.

Got an email of the transcript just in case.

The moral of this case being don't sign up for this on line. Speak to someone. Or as I said above, do nothing. They are not charging for it anyway.

I don't think if you do nothing, the channel will magically appear. They're trying to get people to add 12 months onto their contracts.
I will try contacting the customer service team as well since some people seem to have got it activated without extending the contract.
  • Premier League Soccer is also coming up for renegotiation - I think the bidding has been brought forward to October/November....guess which satellite broadcaster is not favourite to win that one either....
    this 'offer' stinks....
